Publisher's Description

An effective facilitator of adult learning must clearly understand the world of the learner -- teaching as an extension of learning. Using a 'view of learning from the inside out' approach, Adult Education leads the reader through various key aspects of how adult learners engage themselves in learning situations. Applying case studies from his vast experience with adult learners, Dr. Wodlinger places the reader into real situations, creating relevant connections with adults' lived learning experiences. Adult Education: Understanding the Adult Learner is a must read for anyone contemplating involvement with or currently facilitating adult learning. Michael Wodlinger has been a professional educator for over 40 years, as teacher, administrator, researcher, author, counsellor and consultant. He has a Masters Degree in Educational from the University of Toronto and a PhD (Educational Administration) from the University of Alberta. Michael is currently completing a Masters Degree in Spiritual Formation. Professor Wodlinger has been teaching and learning from adults for more than 30 years, both as University Professor and as consultant to governmental and educational institutions, health bodies and faith groups. His main areas of interest are critical thinking, effective mentoring practice, preparing adult facilitators, reflective teaching and spiritual formation. Dr. Wodlinger has written books on mentoring skills, reflective practice, action research and numerous articles on issues of reflective teaching.
