Meleah H5 Stars Out Of 5August 26, 2009Meleah HI can't imagine anyone seriously considering adopting without having read this book; it's simply that helpful. Having read it, I'm so glad I've done so before making a final decision one way or the other. Even as a Psychology grad, I found it very informative. The book goes into great detail about many of the emotional, physical, and mental challenges that an adopted child may face, and from the point of view of a potential adoptive parent, it is very informative as to the challenges such a child's parent may face. It may take some fortitude to even finish the book as it goes into such depth regarding potential hardships, but it also offers so much information about how an adoptive parent may be able to help his or child that I couldn't put it down. Although it was difficult even hearing some of the examples of real-life situations, I feel much more confidant about being able to make an informed decision. I've been researching about adoption for quite some time now and know that one can find many books with a focus on the benefits of adoption and the Christian mandate to care for orphans and widows, and although I still haven't made my final decision, it has definitely made me more aware of the importance of praying about my decision. I feel confidant that, should my husband and I decide to adopt, we will be much better prepared and, ultimately, find the challenges less stressful, having read this book. I can't recommend this book enough for any Christian considering adoption who hopes to base their decision on God-inspired wisdom and understanding, with their heart AND their head. The fact that the authors are experts in their field is most evident and, as a result, comforting. I absolutely cannot stress the value of this book. Based on the importance to a child of being adopted by equipped parents, I think adoption agencies should make it required reading for potential adoptive parents.
Kim Pratt5 Stars Out Of 5April 8, 2009Kim PrattThis book is a God send for families with hurting adoptive children. Not only do I live everyday with children who has been damaged by biological parents, I am now on the path of healing and restoration. This book and the authors Dr. Keck and Regina are incredible. They have saved my family and made us whole finally. They help me fill in the holes left by abandonment, physical and sexual abuse. They not only treat the child but the entire family unit. I could not recommend this book and the attachment and bonding center enough.
