A is for Adam, authored by Ken and Mally Ham from Answers in Genesis, is a colorful children's flip book that is illustrated with expressive and even humorous characters. The book uses the alphabet as a memory device to teach the account of creation.

Each page features a theme word that is woven into a clever rhythm. The books sits up by itself, so as a parent or teacher reads the story on the back page, the child can gaze at the descriptive cartoon drawing. There are seven different options that can be engaged in by the reader/listener for each page. First, the story is told with rhythm and short, easy-to-repeat "Bible Bits." Then the book has questions that kept my children, a nine- and three-year-old, focused on the story. Two following sections are activities that are done throughout the week to keep the story in mind. The last part has review questions that encouraged my kids to pay attention because they wanted to give the correct answer.

The last pages of the book have even more information and activities to do for each picture. My nine-year-old enjoyed being the teacher by reading the back page while showing the picture to the three-year-old. I have used and taught Answers in Genesis material for over 10 years, so I was surprised when my 9-year-old was learning new information about Genesis from the book. You could spend anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours on each page, depending on how many of the activities you choose to do.

A is for Adam contains foundational information that all families can benefit from. - Dena Galang, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
