4 Stars Out Of 5
September 12, 2009
These are beautifully done movies. I like that they do not stray from the NIV text and I use them, in tiny bitefuls. for my teenage boys' devotions in the morning. They feel it brings the scripture alive for them
We have been watching the Gospel of John in conjunction with our Sunday morning sermons. I need to watch it in it's entirety. It is an awesome video that makes you think about the way it was when Jesus was teaching in the temple and with his disciples. A very good video!
The Gospel of John (GNB) and Acts (NIV) are word-for-word, no words have been added or removed. For this reason alone, I think it's worth 5 stars. The acting in John is outstanding and the film itself is engaging, while Acts is well done but some parts could have been done better. In Acts, the sound volumes seem to be unedited (changing between loud and quiet, both vocals and background music), patch-worked (sometimes various voice-overs sound patched together into unnatural sounding sentences), and disjointed. Aside from these things, this is an excellent set. I give 5 stars to The Gospel of John, and 4 stars to Acts.
I absolutely loved the Gospel of John. If it was not in this set I would have given it alone 5 stars. However, I wasn't too thrilled with Acts. It felt more like I was watching a play rather than a movie. It was kind of boring from the beginning and the characters seem to lack passion. I do plan to watch it again to see if I will feel any different b/c I am very disappointed with this movie.
