Ladybird5 Stars Out Of 5In-depth ScienceFebruary 29, 2016LadybirdQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4This is an excellent and advanced science curriculum. That being said, I recommend that once your student reaches the 5th grade level in this science, that you use the quizzes rather than the tests for evaluation. The tests are very long and can include essay questions. It is also very difficult to study for the tests because so much information is covered in a chapter. The quizzes, however, are much shorter and are given periodically throughout the chapter by section. My children enjoy this science curriculum much more when we just use the quizzes and worksheets for reinforcement and evaluation.

This is my 1st yr using ABEKA Book, but I am sold. I agree ABEKA is more advanced and maybe this level is above some 12-13 yr olds. It is detail-oriented with lots of repitition with end of section reviews, quizzes, & tests. It requires lots of studying to learn; but, this is why Abeka students do well on the ACT. If your child aspires to go to college, this is the curr which will best prepare them. It has caused my child to become more studious & disciplined & that is exactly what she needs to be in order to succeed in college. My only complaint is the kits aren't really as complete as I'd prefer. I had to order extra pieces when I discovered it was not included.
Mom4JesusAge: 25-34Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 57th Grade ABeka ScienceDecember 16, 2015Mom4JesusAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1We have been using ABeka this year for 7th grade and 4th grade - I purchased the materials through ABeka.
Science was fine for a while; but we are at lesson 60 right now and helping my daughter study for the test is an absolute pain. This chapter is about creation, evolution, etc, very very long chapter and with a LOT of details and information that for a 12 yr old it is impossible to remember and comprehend! Really, if kids go with ABeka from 1st to 8th grade they should earn a PhD - that's how complicated they make it be! Not to mention there are so many quizzes throughout the yr.....
That's it ! This is my final time I'm ever buying ABeka books! They frustrated me in the past, but this yr. in 7th grade, I've been outraged by their requirements with subjects like Science, History and even Language. This isn't a 7th grade curriculum! It is more like 11th-12th grade.
