Publisher's Description

Generations of Amish neighbors and friends enjoy the simple things in life in the lush countryside of Cedar Creek, Missouri. But matters of the heart have a way of complicating the most clear-cut plans....

Everyone knows the Lambright family, since they own a greenhouse and a dry goods store in which their eldest daughter, Abby, runs her own sewing shop. There Abby spends just as much time mending townspeople’s torn relationships as their clothes. But the local maidel has sworn off any suitors of her own because of her unrequited love for James Graber, the buggy maker across the road—the man her younger sister, Zanna, is about to marry.

Then the wedding day arrives and Zanna is nowhere to be found, breaking James’ heart. Zanna has brought shame to her family, but there’s more in store for them when they discover how far she has fallen. Long-buried secrets come to light, and they test the faith and friendship between the two families, as well as the bonds of the Cedar Creek community. Abby is at the center of it all, trying to maintain everyone’s happiness. But will she ever find her own?

Author Bio

Drawing upon her experiences in Jamesport, Missouri, the largest Old Order Amish community west of the Mississippi, longtime Missourian Naomi King writes of simpler times in her Home at Cedar Creek series. When she’s not writing, she loves to travel, try new recipes, crochet, and sew. Naomi now lives in Minnesota with her husband and their border collie.

Publisher's Weekly

The Amish also live in Missouri, jah, where King (Summer of Secrets) sets her new series, Home at Cedar Creek. A wedding is called off when bride Suzanna Lambright goes missing, and her older sister Abby must deliver the bad news to bridegroom James Graber, whom Abby secretly loves. When Zanna returns and discloses why she left, her family and the rest of the community must decide how to live with her and what she has done. The plot is Amish-simple. What distinguishes this from many other Amish romances is how it shows that forbearance and forgiveness take a good deal of work, and the Amish, like everybody else, gossip, bicker, and sometimes have less-than-ideal family lives. While some developments strain credulity, King has created enough open-ended characters to entice the reader back to Cedar Creek for more. Agent: Evan Marshall. (Mar.)2012 Reed Business Information
