Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) was born in Scotland and spent much of his boyhood there. His ministry of teaching and preaching took him for a time to the United States and Japan. The last six years of his life were spent as principal of the Bible Training College in London, and as a chaplain to British Commonwealth troops in Egypt during World War l. After his death, the books which bear his name were compiled by his wife from her own verbatim shorthand notes of his talks.
David McCasland is a writer whose research for this book took him to the scenes of Oswald Chambers' life and ministry throughout Britain, the United States, and Egypt. David and his wife, Luann, have four daughters and live in Colorado.

Full of grace and Holy Spirit. I had always wondered about the life of My Utmost to the Highest's author and how he was able to write so profoundly of God and faith. This book did not disappoint, and will not fail in making one desire more to be a better person.
Rosie La Vallee5 Stars Out Of 5July 8, 2010Rosie La ValleeIf you want to know someone who really lived by faith read "Abandoned to God". Thru Oswald Chambers' life you'll learn how a person that loves and obeys the Lord does not have to worry about "the details of life". God always takes care of that. He shows us that when God calls and we are available, God, in a variaty of circustances will take care of us and of whatever it is He is asking us to do. Oswald is a life of faith in action, "Be and I will do thru you", one of Oswald's quotes, represents his actual life. This is a must read for a person who seeks to completely rely on God, and wants to be certain that there is a way to live giving Him your all, your best and not questioning Him. I love this book.
Carey Young5 Stars Out Of 5July 14, 2005Carey YoungThis book has been a spiritually uplifting one. I love the fact that the author addressed Mr. Chambers struggle within himself and his battle to serve the Lord. I found it refreshing to read about the humility of a man while we live in a world of pride.
