Emily Carver wants a home where she can put down roots instead of following her gold-hungry father from one mining camp to another. She also longs for tenderness and love, both of which are missing in her life. Yet when she realizes she's losing her heart to the intriguing new man in camp, she fiercely fights her feelings, afraid that love will only result in disappointment and heartache.
Caeden Thibault, a young geologist, comes to Montana to catalog minerals indigenous to the state. He's a serious and guarded young man trying to escape the pain of his past. He has avoided all romantic entanglements, fearing he might become like his abusive father. But something about Emily Carver has caught his attention, something he never expected. . . .
Will these two broken souls allow God to bring healing and hope to their hurting hearts?

All Emily Carver wants out of life is a home of her own. To put down roots and to stay in on place for the rest of her life. Unfortunately for her, her father moves from mining town to mining town looking for the looking for the big strike that he is sure God has promised him.
After his fathers death, Caeden Thibault moves west to begin his career as a geologist. Although he is the heir to one of America largest fortunes, Caeden find that the open of the west hold great appeal for him. On a job for the government in the wilds of Montana, Caeden becomes acquainted with Emily and her family and is drawn to their love and loyalty to each other.
Both Caeden and Emily begin the book with a less than ideal relationship with God, but as the book progresses both find a closer connection with Him. Caeden has been jaded towards God since he was a young boy and Emily, who knew that both her parents are believers, but always thought that would be enough for her. I love the journey that the author takes with both of these characters to finding a personal relationship with God.
Even the villain of the book struggles with the concept of God and Heaven and Hell which I found to be a great addition to the story line.
I can always count on Traci Peterson to bring a well written, faith based book. There were several conversations about Jesus, the cross and salvation and one was actually a few pages long, not just a passing comment or two. I loved that. I felt that the author really wanted this to be a witness. These things are what set apart a Christian novel.
If you have never read a Traci Peterson book, this would be a perfect one to start with.
4.5/5 stars for a nearly perfect book.

I look forward to book 2 in this series.

Anna MaeAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5A Treasure Concealed by Tracie PetersonMay 5, 2016Anna MaeAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When I think Tracie's novels can't get any better, they do. This was wonderful! I hated for it to end. I felt so sorry for sweet, patient, loving Emily. I love the way the story was put together. A slowly building romance, danger, evil lurking, Christians in poverty yet community and when I thought it couldn't get any worse for Emily, good things started happening. Christian faith strong in spite of circumstances. Finally realizing God loved them and seeing Emily and Caeden coming to faith in Jesus touched my heart. Justice finally prevailed but brought no satisfaction. The way God worked things out was precious. I wasn't able to predict the outcome which is the way I like it. The ending shouted "and they lived happily ever after." Surpassed my expectations. My kind of novel. Can't wait for #2 in series Sapphire Brides.
