Publisher's Description

Hunter Clarke wanted one thing for Christmas: to spend it with his dad and his brother. He misses being included in any guy trips since his parents divorced and he went to live with his mom. So he’s less than happy when his mother tells him that he won a contest to spend Christmas in West Monroe, Louisiana, with a family named the Robertsons. For some reason, they’re supposed to be a big deal. How did he win a contest he didn’t enter? Besides, he’s never heard of them and sure doesn’t want to spend Christmas in a swamp with a bunch of strangers.

Korie Robertson is excited to open her heart and home to Hunter and show him what the Christmas season looks like for the Robertson family. And like it or not, Hunter experiences it firsthand. From duck-hunting disasters with the bearded guys, to learning to cook with Miss Kay, Hunter quickly discovers what it’s like to live with this boisterous, yet loving family. Putting on his headphones and ignoring them is not an option. Before long, Hunter begins to let his guard down. But with Christmas and the end of his trip fast approaching, will it be too little, too late? Or will Hunter be open to the greatest gift of all?

Editorial Reviews

Hunter Clarke wants to spend Christmas with his father and older brother, but his mother, newly divorced, worries about Hunter’s inability to accept the change in their domestic situation. On a hopeful whim, she enters her son into a contest to celebrate Christmas with the Robertson family of Duck Dynasty fame. Her wish is that they can do what she cannot—find a way to reach Hunter before she loses him. But Hunter is less than thrilled when he wins to learn that he will be celebrating the holidays down South with the Robertson clan. Miss Kay, on the other hand, is very excited to welcome him into their home with a big helping of faith served with a side of humor. VERDICT: From the clever use of Christmas carol puns in chapter headings to the story’s charming resolution, CF readers will savor the Robertson matriarch’s down-home details. Her heartwarming tale will be much in demand by fans of the reality show and those looking for a hopeful and inspirational book with a holiday focus.

A ROBERTSON FAMILY CHRISTMAS BY KAY ROBERTSON w/TRAVIS THRASH

When I first read about this book I quickly scanned the summary and thought it said the Robinson Crusoe family celebrations. But I am also familiar with the Robertson family as our friends love to watch their series.

We have viewed it for a few minutes at a time at their house as we don't get that channel. Sounded like a good read and was glad to get it to review.

Starts out with Stacey and she'd entered a contest to send her son to experience Christmas holidays with the Roboertson family. She can't believe she won the contest! Now to break it to Hunter, her son who's lately taken it upon himself to not follow the house rules any longer and has been caught with drugs...

Hope and pray and all she could do is thank God. Hunter arrives at the Robertson's and they make him feel at home but he's got a dark cloud over his head. So many lend him advice and some of it sinks in.

He does start to be like the others after a time. So many things happen to him along the way. Great idea of not only hear Hunter's side to what's going on but Korie's side to what's going on as well. It makes you feel like you are there.

Faith and hope and passages from others in the family preaching about the good Lord really fit into this novel. Glad I was able to read this book, shed a light on what the Duck Dynasty is all about-not what you see on TV.

Love all the 'firsts' he's able to experience that will last a lifetime. Family traditions, old and new are treasures.

Chapter headings have so much meaning! Mystery surrounding where Willie is during the whole book and what he's up to is funny.

Beautiful story! Glad I'm able to understand the family and what they are all about.

I received this book from The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) via Tyndale Publishers in exchange for my honest review.

A Robertson Family Christmas by authors Miss Kay Robertson and Travis Thatcher is a small hardback book. This 321 page Christmas holiday novella is published by Tyndale. It is not a large print book but the type is not small. This sweet read would make a great gift for anyone and be good for a gift exchange.

It explores the possibility of being happy at Christmas even when feeling alone most of the time. The Robertson Family of Ducky Dynasty fame is the center of the book along with a boy name Hunter. He comes from a broken family and feels unconnected and lonely. After winning a holiday contest to spend Christmas with the Robertsons Hunter finds himself in the middle of a fun, loving, boisterous, God loving, Christian family. The authors' writing style is very nice and makes this book a quick, ways ready. At no point was I bored. It is a great holiday, family, Christian book. I one of my favorite smiles in the book is Uncle Willie singing Pharrell Williams' "Happy" on Christmas Day. Can't you just picture that?! One of my favorite heart warming parts is the line "God doesn't promise us an easy life. He does promise blessings, but we can't always imagine what they will be." How sweet and true.

This heartwarming, humorous, inspiring book is based on the Robertson family traditions at Christmas. The authors do such a good job in their writing you will feel right at home with the family smelling the yummy aromas from the kitchen, hearing the songs, and feeling the love. I thoroughly enjoyed it and rated it a 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend it for anyone. I received a copy of this book from The Book Club Network for my honest review.

The novella, A Robertson Family Christmas, by Miss Kay Robertson and Travis Thatcher is a wonderfully uplifting and heart-warming story that focuses on a young man who feels alone and separated from any family. He lives with his mother after his parents divorce and has no close relationship with her or with his father and brother who live together. His mom hears about a contest in which the winner will spend Christmas with the duck-dynasty Robertson family in West Monroe, Louisiana. She feels led to enter the contest in order to somehow help her troubled son. Her entry wins their attention, and a reluctant Hunter is bound for Louisiana. Supposedly the Robertson Family is well-known, but Hunter has never heard of them nor does he care.

Can this experience change a lost, lone teen and make a difference in his life? Not only do readers get a delightful story but also they gain a bonusa glimpse into the lives and the Christmas traditions of the Duck Commander family. This short, easy read is packed with family values, Biblical truth, and entertaining moments. I highly recommend this novella that I received through TBCN in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by anyone in the Robertson family and I enjoyed it very much. Kay Robertson has a talent for writing and even though it is a fictional story she includes true family traditions at Christmas time and their family 's faith and values that make you feel like this story is true. I have watched a number of the Duck Dynasty shows and love that their Christian faith is displayed in each episode. Love the family dinner and prayer time.

Unknown to Hunter his mother has entered his name in a contest and he won. The prize is to spend Christmas with the Duck Dynasty Robertson Family. Due to his mother and fathers divorce Hunter a teenager with a poor attitude does not want to go and spend Christmas with strangers. He does not know what to make of this unusual family. When he begins to realize this family is full of love for each other and others he lets down his defenses.

A great and inspiring story that shows how love, laughter, a families faith, God's plans and direction can make a change in Hunters life.

I received a free copy of this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.

Is Christmas Quacked up to what it's supposed to be?

Kay Robertson with Travis Thrasher combine to create a wonderful book "A Robertson Family Christmas." Being a fan of the "quacky" Robertson TV show, I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are themselves as they celebrate Christmas with the true meaning and heart of Christmas. Even with a guest in their home for Christmas, they don't try to hide or camouflage their faith. Each in their own way, walk the talk with their faith, talents, family, and lives. From the youngest to the oldest Robertson, you know God lives in their hearts. They don't look at themselves as more well off than others, only that God has blessed them.

It also wouldn't be the Robertson family without laughs along the way-- camo is camo, isn't it?

So, join the Robertson family as they have a special guest (Hunter) to celebrate Christmas with. Can Hunter survive Christmas with these backwoods people and can their influence be enough to help Hunter's outlook on his life?

The Book Club Network gave me this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
