I love, love, LOVE this book! Can you hear the hallelujah choir singing literary affirmation in the background? Because that's how much I love this book! Callie charmed me and Davis sent me into a tailspin of euphoric hero-worship! I mean, really, an animal whispering veterinarian?! Be still my heart. And there's a character I really loved to hate...in an unrepentantly venomous way. There are certain times when a reader just needs to be filled with a good fury of righteous indignation on behalf of beloved characters. :-)

Davis and Callie's love story is deliciously romantical but not without complications and angst. Callie might seem like a free spirit but she is bound by a childhood trauma that has shaped her life...and keeps her running from commitment. Davis has suffered unimaginable loss and has his troubled preteen son to consider so he's cautious and pragmatic.

But, oh la la, these two are so good together! They balance each other perfectly. Davis is a steadfast anchor to Callie's embrace-the-moment exuberance. This is storytelling at its finest - the measure of words and descriptions that exactly fit the characteristics of the hero and heroine drew me deeper into their lives. And the title tie-in is superb! I got choked up at one point and cried happy tears at the end.

This inspirational romance ticks all the boxes for me - compelling characters, lots of heart and faith and just enough laughter to bind it all together. Sublime!

A New Shade of Summer is a great addition to the Love in Lenox series. It is the third book in the series, however, just as it is with the other two books, this story can be enjoyed as a stand alone. There are characters from previous books that appear in this one, but the story line is strong on its own. I do recommend the whole series, however, as these books are just so enjoyable!

I will admit that although I loved the character of Callie, she did wear on me a bit by the last third of this book. She had some growing to do and some lies to overcome that she had been believing about herself for a very long time. I was happy with her again by the end of the novel. I thought Davis was amazing and he was a character that I did not really care much for in book two. The author did a good job of creating a character that I had a lot of compassion for.

I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Callie Quinn has utilized her artistic abilities to maintain a nomadic lifestyle. Learning the root of her choices and what she thinks of herself just made me love her more for her authenticity. Davis Carter is a devoted dad! He has a great support system even when his pride makes it uncomfortable to ask for help. Davis and Callie's personalities compliment one other so beautifully!

I'll be revisiting this series for future pleasure reading and I highly recommend it!

I requested the opportunity to read this book through the publisher and later borrowed it through Kindle Unlimited. The opinions expressed are my own.

Nicole Deese is a new-to-me author and an amazing one she is! A New Shade of Summer is guaranteed to heighten your senses with the beauty of Oregon, with its shimmering lakes surrounded by wooded pines and stunning foliage -- combined with a heartwarming, emotive romance between a veterinarian and the new girl in town. Readers everywhere will fall in love with the bubbly, ginger-haired Callie Quinn and the handsome town vet, Davis Carter. Callie tends to be a free spirit moving from place to place, but does Dr. Davis have the right prescription to keep her in Lenox? If you are looking for suspense or never-ending excitement this may not be the book for you, but if you are in the mood for an angst-filled love story be sure to order your copy today!

Have you ever wanted to be someone else? Don't get me wrong--I'm happy with who I am, but sometimes I wish I could be more carefree, outgoing, talented, and fun. When Callie blows into town with her bright red hair, wicked artistic abilities, and carefree bohemian attitude, Davis doesn't even know what's hit him. She has a way about her that draws people to her like moths to a flame and her confidence in herself brings a sense of peace to those around her. I want to be her...maybe for a day.

As a mom, I can only imagine how hard it would be to be a single parent as Davis is, but he is one great dad, even though he struggles finding that balance with a soon-to-be teenager. I adore Davis! He's hardworking, smart, sweet, and puts others needs above his own, even when it's not convenient or easy.

For him to find someone like Callie is extremely satisfying, but that relationship right there is not immune to problems. Through all of the conflicts, there are moments of chemistry, which takes this book to a deeper level. I loved every minute of it! I want to live in Lenox, OR (is it a real place?); I want to be friends with Callie and her sister, Clem; I want to take my dog and cat to Davis's vet practice; I want to associate with these people.

Ms. Deese is a very talented writing that draws me right into the thick of her books and leaves me with a book hangover--I honestly don't want to finish that last page because then it will be over.

Content: mild religious elements; mild romance
