Product Description

Having fled a difficult home life, Civil War nurse Abigail Stuart feels like her only friend in the world is sweet but gravely wounded patient Jeremiah Calhoun. Fearing he won't survive, the Confederate soldier's last wish is that Abigail look after his sickly sister at home. Marry him, return to his horse farm, and it'll be hers.

Left with few choices, Abigail takes him up on his offer and moves to Missouri after his death, but just as the family learns to accept her, the real Jeremiah Calhoun appears puzzled to find a confounding woman posing as his wife. Jeremiah is determined to have his life back to how it was before the war, but his own wounds limit what he can do on his own. Still not fully convinced Abigail isn't duping him, he's left with no choice but to let the woman stay and help--not admitting to himself she may provide the healing his entire family needs.

Publisher's Description

Abigail Stuart Thought She was Jeremiah Calhoun's Widow.
But Jeremiah Calhoun Is Very Handsome, Very Alive, and Very Perplexed.
Most Inconvenient Indeed.

With few options of her own, nurse Abigail Stuart agrees to marry her patient, a gravely wounded soldier calling himself Jeremiah Calhoun. They arrange a quick ceremony before he dies, giving Abigail the rights to his Ozark farm and giving Jeremiah the peace of knowing someone will care for his ailing sister after he's gone--a practical solution for both of them.

After the war, Abigail fulfills her side of the bargain--until the real Jeremiah Calhoun shows up, injured but definitely alive, and wastes no time in challenging Abigail's story. Abigail is flummoxed. After months of claiming to be his widow, how can she explain that she's never seen this Jeremiah Calhoun before? How can she convince him that she isn't trying to steal his farm? And will she find a way to stay, even though this practical arrangement has turned into a most inconvenient marriage?

This is a very enjoyable story. How can you not like Abigail and Jeremiah. Though this is a different Jeremiah than Abigail thought. Abigail is a nurse during the end of the civil war and ends up marrying a dying soldier and than going to live with his family. Then one day she learns she did not marry their son but someone else.. What will they all do? There are some funny moments and some sad moments during this book but not a dull one. I received this book from.bookfun.org for a fair and honest opinion.

Regina Jennings is good! A Most Inconvenient Bride is the first novel I have read by Jennings, and I really enjoyed it. She is a great story teller. She had me dying to find out how everything was going to work out. I had so much fun getting to know Jeremiah and Abigail and many of the other characters in the story too. Jennings left me satisfied. After I finished reading the book, I felt that every loose end was tied up, which doesnt always happen.

Abigail has done her best to help every soldier she nursed during the war, but she cant help but call Romeo her favorite. When he knows hes not getting better he makes her an offer she cant refuse. God answers prayers in ways we least expect it. Jeremiah has longed for home, but couldnt go until he made every effort to find his best friend. What will it be like to sleep in an actual bed? But when he gets home hes in for a surprise. Someone else is living in his old bedroom. Can God use them to help each other?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Fiction. There are many twist and turns throughout the story. There were times where I was literally hoping that certain things would or wouldnt happen. And she had me laughing out loud at other times. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

A Most Inconvenient Marriage is an enjoyable read. It is a historical romance set after the Civil War. Abigail was a nurse during the war and fulfilled a dying soldier's request of marriage. This was so that she could go and take care of his ill sister and mother on the family farm without difficulty. Unfortunately a person shows up stating he is the real soldier that owns that property. It lead to many humorous and romantic episodes.

I recieved this book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

Regina Jennings in her new book A Most Inconvenient Marriage published by Bethany House introduces us to Abigail Stuart.

From the back cover: Abigail Stuart Thought She was Jeremiah Calhouns Widow.

But Jeremiah Calhoun Is Very Handsome, Very Alive, and Very Perplexed.

    Most Inconvenient Indeed.

After the war, Abigail fulfills her side of the bargainuntil the real Jeremiah Calhoun shows up, injured but definitely alive, and wastes no time in challenging Abigails story. And will she find a way to stay, even though this practical arrangement has turned into a most inconvenient marriage?

Wow, what a situation. Abigail feels sorry for a wounded soldier and marries him to grant his last wish of caring for his younger sister. Then he dies and she relocates to Missouri. After convincing the family that everything she tells them is true Jeremiah returns home. However this is not the Jeremiah that she married and died it is the real Jeremiah and he has no idea of who she is. Now these two have to work together. This is one of the cleverest stories I have ever come across. This has drama, some suspense and loads of fun. Quite possible this might be Ms. Jennings best. And on top of everything this is a romance. This is a book about family and what is important in life. Ms. Jennings knows how to create characters that live on the page and that we get to know and love. Get ready for an exciting read that will keep you flipping pages and keep you emotionally involved.

This story is one that I love to read! The setting is during the end of the Civil War and the main characters have one adventure after another. I was able to read it fairly quickly, as I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. Thank you Regina Jennings for a beautifully written book!
