I absolutely loved this book! Each story captivated me. The author is incredible at painting a picture of people who lived in different times in history, and I don't believe anyone could have a more thorough grasp on Old Testament times. Each woman (all of whom are found in Jesus lineage) was very different but each spoke to my heart in some way. My favorite stories were those of Mary and Rahab. I love how Miss Rivers portrayed Mary as not being sinless (she wasn't) and Rahab as not being beyond God's grace. To think that our God is so gracious that He would inspire the New Testament authors to name a former harlot in His Son's lineage. Naming women in a lineage at all during that time period in history wasn't normal. Certainly naming Rahab was even more out of the ordinary. But I digress! You must read this book! It's actually a thick book with 5 novellas so you can also purchase them separately if you prefer a smaller volume.

I purchased this book after reading Redeeming Love by this same author, so I had high expectations. I was excited to learn more about the five Biblical women. This book exceeded my high exceptions and upon completing it, I now feel like I better understand these women and their stories, as well as what it was like during their time and the way God's people felt as they experienced God's love, mercy and judgement. The book is divided into five sections and each section into chapter. Each section covers a different character and her story, staying true to the scriptures but adding some details and dialogue to help bring the stories to life. At the end of each chapter you get to read the actual text from the Bible (I liked this so I could compare what parts were actually from the Bible vs. the parts that the author addds) as well as other scripture to help analyze and dig deeper into the story and lessons learned. Love this book! Am only sad its over.

I really enjoy reading this author's books because I learn Bible facts along with the story of people's lives. The chronological order of these five women's lives and the historical facts about the way they lived is fascinating. The way God works in each person's life all the way to Jesus is "awesome". I appreciate the research, study and work this author brings with her writing. Thank you!

Francine Rivers wrote a very beautiful work. This book is so descriptive and really captivated me. I loved how she very accuratly played out the stories of 5 biblical women. I greatly enjoyed it, and it made me dig deeper into Scripture.

Lineage of Grace is written so beautifully. I felt like I was with these women on their journeys, felt their pain and rejoiced in their triumphs over darkness. Each story was so different, but equally significant. Praise God for them all:)
