Aldrich captures the very heart of the pioneer spirit, and portrays how those people developed true character by their hard work ethic and trust in God's ways. There is not the obvious theme of Christianity in the book, but there is the foundational truth that we are here by God's plan. A deep sense of what real life is all about comes through Alrich's writings and makes us realize how shallow we live in this modern age.

Excellent read. An excellent reminder that women and mothers of all generations dream of and want only the best in the lives of those we love. We willingly sacrifice of ourselves for that to happen.

This is a great book! Almost every Mother can surely relate to Abbie Deal, the main character. I would highly recommend the book for anyone & everyone to read.

I had read this book many years ago and I had enjoyed reading it very much. Highly recommend it.
