I loved this book even more than the first two. I wasn't sure if I would since the main character Cayton was not very nice or well liked in the previous books. This is my favorite type of book, when the author brings previous characters back, making them part of the new romance novel. I so enjoy the way Roseanna writes. She has it all, they are funny, with some mystery, adventure and sweet, clean love story. She even throws in one or two bad guys. They type you love to hate. Roseanna M. White is one of my most favorite authors. She has not written anything that I have not liked. I can't wait to read her next book.

A Lady Unrivaled is the third and concluding book in the Ladies of the Manor series. With a striking cover and exceptional storyline, it deftly continues the story of the Fire Eyes from the two previous novels and follows Lady Ella and Lord Cayton as they embark on a journey filled with deceit, danger, and diamonds.

Due to the fact that I loved both the first and second books in the series, I was quite apprehensive about whether this final entry could compare. However, it put to rest every fear I had and I will even go so far as to call it the perfect ending.

One of the things that I loved most about this novel was the fact that the author took an unlikeable character from the past books and allowed him to transform before our eyes. Starting off as unpleasant and immature, he becomes filled with the desire to be a better man, not only for the betterment of those around him, but for his little girl. I loved seeing these changes play out within his character and watching him achieve his goals and desires.

Another quality that I appreciated in the book was the Russian culture that was added in the form of a character who was previously a Russian ballet dancer, but who-within the storyline- is masquerading as a ladies maid. I feel this added more depth and dimension to the story, while also adding to the mystery and intrigue.

Roseanna White has been given a tremendous gift to be able to write in a way that sweeps readers away and lands them in an alternative world purely of her own creation. One loses all track of time and becomes so completely engrossed in a story that for the duration of the novel you believe you are a part of it. I found myself twirling on the ballroom floor, being swept off my feet by a dashing gentleman, and being held hostage- filled with excitement and fear at what might come next. Any reader who picks up this book will share the same fate, so if you love period dramas filled with romance and mystery, then this is the series for you. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

I was sent this book in return for an honest review from Bethany House publishing. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this wonderful book in the Ladies of the Manor series. I had no idea that it was the last book in the series, when I first requested a copy to review. However, I was able to keep up nicely with the story line and the happenings of the past books. Considering how much I loved this book, I am tempted to go back and read the first two, The Lost Heiress and The Reluctant Duchess. The character list in the front of the book also helped with figuring out the storyline.

I am always amazed at the lengths that people will go over jewels, gold, or money. The drama between the families and characters was very entertaining to say the least. The way she describes each characters inner struggles had me feeling deeply for them as if they were real. The chemistry between the two main characters Ella and Cayton left me practically begging for a happy ending for them. As an artist, I could relate to Cayton the most and adored his character from the start. While I did not always agree with them, I had to tell myself that this was a completely different time in the world.

Speaking of which, her book made me fall in love with the early 1900s all over again. From the beautiful castles to the early electric fixtures like the chandeliers and lamps, I found myself picturing their home perfectly as if it were right in front of me. While they solve the mystery of the Fire Eyes diamonds, they also have to uphold the traditions and morals of their society. The book began to pick up pace a few chapters in and remained that way until the very last chapter. I really enjoyed seeing the story from different characters points of view. I found myself wanting to warn the other characters after seeing important scenes. It is always fun and frustrating, when reading a book, to find yourself wishing you could help people who are not even real. I would highly recommend this book to any Christian Fiction or Christian Historical fan. It holds a wonderful lesson about how a life of luxury does not always mean happiness or a life free of troubles.

With this last book in the series, the focus turns to Lady Ella Myerston and Lord Cayton. In the prior two books in the series, Lord Cayton is portrayed as a rogue. Suddenly his engagement is announced to one woman while he has been paying court to another. Shortly after their marriage, his wife becomes pregnant and then later dies soon after childbirth. Lord Cayton is distraught owing to his guilt at not having loved his wife as she loved him. He is now the father to a baby daughter and has come to realize his need for a Savior. He meets every morning with his neighbor and cousin, the Duke of Stafford, to study the Bible. However, Lord Cayton has decided that he will not wed again as the consequences and his former reputation will make for an unsuccessful marriage.

Lady Ella has invited herself to visit her friend, the Duchess of Stafford, to gain information about the infamous Fire Eyes diamonds. Her brother was in possession of them, but if Ella has her way she will find them and save her family from the villains and the curse that follow the diamonds. While visiting, she learns that Lord Rushworth and his sister, Lady Pratt, are due any day at Lord Caytons home. He had not stopped them in the past from plotting to gain the diamonds and they hope to force him to help them once again. However, Lord Cayton has other plans. He will not be a party to thievery; he is a changed man now. Lord Rushworth is crazy and will stop at nothing to get the diamonds. Ella and Cayton spend time together and romance blooms, but Cayton tries to discourage Ella. As a plan forms to keep the diamonds out of the hands of Lord Rushworth, the danger increases and lives are at risk.

I really liked the fact that Lord Cayton studied Scripture daily, seeking to live a more godly life and become a better man. Lady Ellas cheerful and optimistic personality was a joy to read and the banter she shared with Cayton was entertaining. The tension at the end was great and I couldnt turn the pages fast enough to see how the story ended. Lord Rushworth and Dorsey were truly evil, making the ultimate bad guys. I look forward to the next series by this author as they are filled with historical details of how life was lived during a particular time period, have drama and entertaining plots.

Lady Ella Myerston knows how dangerous the Fire Eyes diamonds are, and is determined to take action to protect her family from them. Lord James Cayton is determined to save Ella from any harm while on her mission, at the same time taking acre of his daughter. Can Ella solve the mystery of the diamonds and bring rest to her family? Will James get a second chance at a happy life?

I have not read the first book in this series, The Lost Heiress, but I read the second one, The Reluctant Duchess. I liked The Reluctant Duchess and was looking forward to reading A Lady Unrivaled. However, as much as I tried getting into it I could not. The story was not grabbing my attention. I could not connect with the characters. The story was lacking interest to me. I did not finish it.

*I received this book free from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review. What I have expressed are entirely my own thoughts.*
