Amelia Stalwood lives in a London townhouse, but she's never actually met any nobility. Then, by chance, she meets the Hawthorne family, who welcome her into their world. Trixi4 Stars Out Of 5A nice prequel to the Hawthorne House series!April 21, 2018TrixiQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I wished I would have read this prequel before reading the Hawthorne House series because it sets up the premise nicely! But you don't have to of course, I just think it enhances it more and gives you some background to the characters.
So going backwards, this answers some questions I had about who Amelia & Anthony were and how their relationship started. I loved seeing these two fall in love! It also reminded me in a way of a rags to riches kind of story for Amelia. Having been elevated in class the day she became a Dukes ward....and this is where we first meet Griffin; Mr. swoon worthy himself! We are also introduced to the rest of the Hawthorne clan. I loved getting to know more about Amelia and Anthony and how they found their happily-ever-after. A fun prequel with plenty of depth & characterization!
Crystal5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful Love Story With A Beautiful MessageFebruary 1, 2018CrystalQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I actually read this introductory novella to the Hawthorne House series last. I didn't realize it existed until after I was already half-way through the series, but I am so glad that I found it. Each member of the Hawthorne family is introduced with this novella; however, the crux of the plot revolves around the love story that develops between Anthony and Amelia. Throughout the series, everyone loves and adores Amelia. This novella shows the reader why. Her kindness, innocence, and inner beauty shine through in so many ways. Anthony- previously known by the ton as the notorious "Raebourne Rake"- is immediately captivated by her upon their first meeting (a rather comical one at that). One of my favorite scenes is the dinner Miranda and Trent host with Anthony and Amelia as guests (a.k.a. setting them up!). I was just as amused as Miranda and Trent at Anthony's complete inability to concentrate on anything but Amelia (awe, how sweet!). Besides the heartwarming love story, the underlying theme of the novella is that once we are saved, we are new creations in Jesus. Beautiful story with a beautiful message!

Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fun storyAugust 10, 2016Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"A Lady of Esteem" is a Christian romance novella set in 1812 in London. This is a prequel to the Hawthorne House series.
Amelia hasn't been introduced into society by her absent-minded guardian, so she's become friends with the servants of the wealthy instead. While trying to help one of her servant friends, she bumps into a handsome aristocrat by accident. She refuses to explain who she is and intrigues the reformed rake. When she is finally introduced into society, someone spreads untrue rumors that threaten her reputation. The servants are on hand to defend her honor (through sudden "I'm so clumsy" accidents) and help her find love. It's got a good bit of humor.
There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this fun romance.
