    So disappointed

I bought this publication in 2015 for my 7th grader. I enjoyed the format and the ease of use. My daughter was able to learn about the Bible without a great deal of stress. The publication is suitable for independent study, which allowed me the freedom to funnel energies into more demanding subjects. Then I found the problem.

When we began Lesson 4 (pp. 14-16), I saw that there was an error. It states that Noah cursed Ham. This erroneous statement is based on Gen. 9: 22-27, which actually states that Noah cursed Canaan (one of Ham's sons). In January of 2016, I brought the error to the attention of Mrs. Kaye Freeman, the author, and she acknowledged the error and promised to correct it in future printings, as well as inform her distributors. These were only two of the six steps I had recommended she take to insure that the correction was immediately made available to the public. This year (nearly two years later), I bought the publication again for my next child, only to discover the same error, uncorrected. It seems that Mrs. Freeman has made no effort to inform the public of the fallacious information and the correction.

I am highly disappointed and concerned that this information has not been corrected. It is important to note the difference between the curse being on Canaan, rather than Ham. If Ham had been cursed, the entire Negroid race would be cursed. Ironically, this untruth was used to convince Africans and African-Americans that they were born to be slaves. Even in contemporary times, incorrect ideas such as this are fodder for racist discrimination, injustice, and supremacist ideals. The truth about the curse is, however, that Canaan and his line of descendants (Hittites, Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, Hivites, Arkites, and Sinites, etc.) were cursed, while Ham's other sons (Cush, Egypt, and Put) were blessed and flourished (Gen. 10: 6-12).

While I enjoy the format and ease of use of this publication, I am planning to find an alternative. God wants truth and unity; teaching our children lies will only perpetuate the lack of unity and racial discord that we are seeing today.
