God delivered Israel from Egyptian bondage to captivate them for Himself. In the arid wilderness He planned to reveal His nature and ways to them, but they drew back. How different are we today? Many confess the Lordship of Jesus and acknowledge His saving power, yet like Israel, they've drawn back. Rather than pursuing His heart they have cleaved to this world's form of worship-the worship of self. As a result we have changed the image of Jesus to be like us. Fire can alter these images. The fire we need is found in the Holiness of God. God is calling us to draw nearer still to tremble on Mt. Zion transformed to touch others.
John Bevere is a best-selling author and popular conference speaker. He and his wife, Lisa, also a best-selling author, founded John Bevere Ministries in 1990. The author is giving a clear picture of the Christian walk which is lacking today in North America. You just have to read it. That's all I can say.

This is a solid, well written call to a more fulfilling relationship and to serve God without reservation. Don't get this unless you really want to be challenged and transformed.
Mark Smedberg5 Stars Out Of 5May 17, 2008Mark SmedbergThis offering is akin to a hidden gem among a series of relevant and well-written Bevere offerings. Not as famous as some of his other books, it is my favorite. Bevere, as usual, challenges the reader to make relationship with God, not self-motivated ministry the desire of all believers. Only a "heart ablaze" has the courage and wisdom to climb the mountain to God Himself as Moses did. Settling for anything else leaves the believer at the foot of the mountain(the Isrealites' plight)unfulfilled and carnal. This is a thought provoking and life changing book-read slowly and digest!
