It is perfect! A woman who left the Amish faith leaves instructions for her children to return to the family home if anything should happen to her.. and does Amy take the easy way out? Nope.
A Gift of Grace is a wonderful story about two sisters, forced to live with their Aunt and Uncle in an Amish community, after they lose their parents. One sister flourishes the other perishes! Or at least she feels like shes been banished to another century, where theres no electricity, no phones, and no friends only stupid rules!
I was caught up in the story almost from the beginning about the time Jessica notices the not-so-pleasing smells coming from the farm.
What a nightmare.
The strange thing is I live in an apartment with electricity, computers, phones, music, air conditioning and I have 2 vehicles to choose from whenever I want to go somewhere why did I identify more with Lindsay, the slightly younger sister who felt at home on the farm and blossomed there. Why didnt I feel more like Jessica, who missed all the technology and freedom?
Ill admit when trouble brewed, I didnt really feel sorry for Jessica but I did want to smack a few people and say, hey, what happened to showing a little love and compassion? Stop making mountains out of mole hills!
But God has a way of dealing with people, especially when theyre thinking too much of themselves, instead of showing His love to those who need it. Amy follows right along with these thoughts and although it took me by surprise, it certainly shakes up the community.
MyrtAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Must ReadJuly 27, 2014MyrtAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When I last opened up "A Gift of Grace", I was on page 163. The next morning I finished reading my book. A story that keeps you wondering how things will work out for Rebecca, Daniel, Lindsay and Jessica. I can't wait to read "A Promise of Hope" to see how the their lives continued. I highly recommend this series. You will be a part of the Kaufmann lives before you know it.
