Laura HiltonHorseshoe Bend, ARAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A Fragile HopeApril 8, 2017Laura HiltonHorseshoe Bend, ARAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3First, the disclaimer. "I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, A FRAGILE HOPE is a poignant contemporary fiction novel that rips the heart out while its still beating. It starts in the woman's point of view, so you know *part* of the story, but then switches to the man's point of view so you go through the trauma of his thoughts as he wrestles with only what he *knows*. I wanted to pull him near and say, "No, honey, it's not what you think."
The story is heartbreaking, but could be reality. Readers that are looking for a feel-good story need to look further. Readers who want a reality based drama will be delighted by this book.
Hard-core. Gritty. Hard-hitting. Emotional.
Cynthia Ruchti pens books that will knock you for a loop and then keeps hitting. A book that stays in your thoughts long after you close the last page.
Just Commonly5 Stars Out Of 5Insight filled with HOPE, even when it seems hopeless.April 7, 2017Just CommonlyQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I've read exactly four books by Cynthia Ruchti to date, and not once had I every been disappointed. That is definitely the case with her latest release, A Fragile Hope. In each book there's a story to tell, but most importantly a message that is so powerful, you wonder, you think and you hope.
In A Fragile Hope, so aptly titled, there's the struggle of betrayal, of doubt and of lost. Yet, within all that pain, we learn, we relate and we hope for that one glimpse of that word to bring light. The story centered on a marriage, but the themes that ties to it, trust, friendship and self-discovery all emanates from Josiah and Karin's journey. Each character, each plot-line and each dialogue was as it should be. Nothing was superfluous. Every word was placed for a purpose and that's the kind of novel that reaches deep into your soul and stir.
"Almost everything in life is better if we listen first."
I love the "Seedlings & Sentiments" quotes throughout the story, which add a little something. You'll need a pad and paper when reading, since you'll want to jot them all down! Love can be simple, and when reading A Fragile Hope, realizing along with Josiah, the simple reminder of God's faithfulness gnaws at you until you too, relish in it.
"Alone. It's a feeling, not a destination or condition. God is especially near to those who think they are alone."
I think the message doesn't only relate to married couples, but any kind of relationship. Trust, faith, hope and yes, even forgiveness are words to not only say, but believe and do. When all seems lost, keep hope.
"Sometimes all hope needs is a little oxygen."
Hope in times of pain. Hope in times of struggles. Hope all the time. Remember, even "seeds of hope can grow in mud," even a fragile hope.

Josiah is written with an incredible depth. His confusion, heartache, and feelings of betrayal were palpable.
I found I had to read this book in short sessions to keep myself from falling into a deep funk. At the same time I NEEDED to find out how the story ended. I wanted things to work out for Josiah and his wife Karin. Not finishing the book was never an option.
I loved seeing the source of wise words and encouragement that came alongside Josiah. It is always great when we are surprised by the people that step up to help us cope in a crisis.
I received a free copy of this book from the author. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.

This beautiful story of love, hope, and forgiveness is a wonderful reminder that no matter how hard we try, we cant do life successfully on our own.
Unique in that it is told through the husbands perspective, this book underscores how sometimes when we think we have everything under control, life can take an ironic twist. Gods love has no boundaries, and we need only to turn to Him to see us through even the most difficult struggles.
Cynthia Ruchti is a very gifted writer, and her characters are multi-dimensional and believable. This book is one of those rare reads that you just have to experience for yourself. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Christian fiction!
