Stella5 Stars Out Of 5An Excellent BookMarch 14, 2017StellaQuality: 5Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I give Fragile Hope a 5 star rating as this is one of the deepest, most relevant books I have read in sometime. I love the premise of the book. Love really can conquer all and there are many lessons to be learned from this story. Forgiveness in the face of what seems to be unyielding facts and situations and acceptance of those same situations is just one of the lessons we can learn. Also the male hero here is so wrapped up in himself and what he deems important that he neglects his wife and has to pay the price. It is a lesson in what we think in our mind has happened versus the truth of the matter. I loved the quotes in the book and wrote several of them down as I can't bring myself to mark up a lovely book. For instance: "Grief doesn't know how to tell time" "Alone. It's a feeling, not a destination or condition. God is especially near to those who think they are alone" "Hope doesn't have an expiration date" and " Almost everything in life is better if we listen first." These are just a few. Jewelry Diva5 Stars Out Of 5A Beautiful Story of Hope!March 14, 2017Jewelry DivaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I'm struggling with the words right now to describe how much of an impact this book has made on me. I have dogeared and highlighted so many amazing quotes. For example, in chapter 34 "God never says. "Go away." He beckons us nearer, no matter what we've done." I loved this book. The main character is a very successful, high profile psychologist who was a "marriage miracle worker." However, his own marriage was falling apart and he never even realized it. He was a very self centered and pompous man. That is until a tragedy took place. His wife was in a horrible car wreck and in a coma for months. That's when God began to get a hold of him and work in his life. We began to see a change in him. God began a change in him.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book and how I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend A Fragile Hope. I was given a copy by the author and publisher and the review is my own
FromtheheartMinnesotaAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Hope Lives!March 14, 2017FromtheheartMinnesotaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Review- A Fragile Hope by Cynthia Ruchti
A Fragile Hope is a story of a married couple in crisis. While the underlying crisis is within their marriage, it becomes much more in the midst of a medical crisis. It is also complicated by the fact that the husband is a relationship expert and doesn't even realize his own relationship is in crisis. He only realizes it when he gets the call that his wife is in the hospital from a car accident after trying to leave him. As he tries to unravel where she was going, with whom, and why, he is deeply hurt and confused. The answers lie with his wife who cannot tell him anything. He must wrestle with the pain of his confusion and hurt, but more so with himself. How can he not have a good marriage? How could his wife have been leaving him? Aren't the solutions he provides for everyone else truth for their own marriage, too? He must also face that his wife may not live and how he is going to stand with her through her long hospitalization. What will be his priorities now? He faces some tough questions about himself, his wife and his future. How will he find the answers?
The characters have real hurts, dilemmas, and pain. We feel it with them. We struggle with them through their crisis. It becomes very real to the reader.
While the crisis feels real, and oftentimes heavy, there are lessons learned. Past hurts become obstacles to surviving this crisis, but hope comes in many different unexpected ways. Hope becomes the strength that makes survival possible. Faith gives hope its root to grow. We are not left in the crisis, but see forgiveness, faith, and hope transcend it to bring real healing on many levels in many ways.
A Fragile Hope is a story that will touch your emotions and heart. You will feel with the characters, but your own life will be challenged and inspired by this story.

Karen RWAGender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Fabulous writing, heartfelt storyMarch 8, 2017Karen RWAGender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Fabulous writing draws the reader in to walk alongside a husband's struggle in the midst of a traumatic medical crisis. Watching him be transformed with a front row view to his thoughts and emotions, this heartfelt story touches on deep issues: dealing with grief, anger, bitterness, negative thinking, the need to forgive and be forgiven, and learning how to really love people. A beautiful reminder of God's constant love for us too. The author accurately describes the medical scenes, yet draws attention to the human story in the midst of it. Loved watching Josiah's growth from the beginning to the end; I went from wanting to slap him in the beginning, to wanting to hug him at the end. Great reminder to hang onto hope, with all the lovely quotes from Karin's cards added in. Hope definitely grows here!
Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a realistic, character driven story with a thread of faith. Solid 5 Stars!

mcaldwellErie, PAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The Real Meaning of Married LoveJanuary 29, 2017mcaldwellErie, PAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Josiah Chamberlain's world turns upside down when he's called to the hospital after his wife is in a car accident. Josiah hasn't had much time for his wife in the past 5 or more years. He's too busy writing on how to save marriages and relationships. Ironic that his wife needs his full attention to survive the accident. And, there's a twist as we learn straight away at the hospital that Karin is pregnant. What a struggle for Josiah as he's certain he's not the father.
There's another twist when we learn who was driving the car in the accident...and that he didn't survive.
Karin's parents are important in the story as pillars of faith, even when circumstances could easily drag them down.
This was a fantastic story about God providing an opportunity for self-examination and the bettering of one's self, in the midst of great pain.
Thanks to Abingdon Press for providing me an ARC for a review in my own words.
