Heidi MainCary, NCAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5complex and likable characters, quick moving plot, page turnerJanuary 3, 2017Heidi MainCary, NCAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I really enjoyed this novel. The main characters, Celeste Thompson and Gage Purcell, backgrounds were deep and layered, making them come to life on the page. Gage's children, Emma and Cassidy, were adorable and a joy to read about. Their cute antics frequently pitted the main characters against each other, as Gage and Celeste both had long term plans that didn't involve marriage or even a serious relationship. A page-turner and great plot, but the one downside to this book is that Celeste makes homemade cinnamon rolls. She bakes them frequently....And I craved them each and every time she took them, steaming and wafting of cinnamon gooiness, out of the oven ;-) But if you can get past the craving, pick up AFather's Second Chance for an awesome read!

There is a young woman entrepreneur who takes over her grandmothers restaurant, making some of the locals repeat customers for some special cooking. Celeste is the lady who loves to cook and is always looking for ways to grow her business. Celeste never feels close to her mother due to the fear of never living up to perceived expectations.
Gage is a divorcee with two little girls who captured his heart though never their mothers, who one day walked out of their lives never looking back. Celestes father left her when she was young so she bonds very quickly with Gages daughters. No matter how each tries not to fall in love it is becoming apparent they are until Celeste lets out a long held secret.
I couldnt put the book down because of the constant tension between the two main characters, Gage and Celeste. While it is a story including romance, there is so much more such as healing of past hurts, relationships restored, living by faith and not allowing fear to direct ones path. The scenes described sound absolutely breathtaking; though I am not sure I would want to drive on a road where one side is rock and the other a cliff!
I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did and make time to curl up and lose yourself for a little while in the tale!
Melissa5 Stars Out Of 5Heart-warmingNovember 9, 2015MelissaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I loved this story. The story world was so rich and real and that is true of most Love Inspired books.
Celeste is not what she appears at Gages first glance. She is kind and carries wounds that help her to see the world differently.
Gages vow to stay away from women crumbles pretty easily around Celeste.
Then we have Gages sweet daughters. They will melt your heart.
The romance is a slow build and wonderfully done between these two. If you like a good romance you will adore this book.

Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Can he repair his own heart in time to save his feelings for Celeste?October 27, 2015Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4We all have pasts. Sometimes it becomes difficult to share those pasts with someone we have fallen in love with for fear that they will reject us if they know the truth. Even if God has already forgiven us, it can be hard to open up because what if we do and they simply chose to walk away? That is the decision that Celeste Thompson will have to face if she is honest with how she feels after vowing to never fall in love. After her own father abandoned her when she was little, between how her mother raised her, she was bound and determine to hold up her side of that agreement.
When she first moved to the small mountain community of Ouray, to reopen Granny's Kitchen, a restaurant her grandmother used to own, she had hoped that would be enough to keep her busy. Then came the possibility of adding 3 family suites above the restaurant if she can find someone to help renovate them in keeping with the feel of the restoration she wants. She isn't looking for a complete tear down and redo but more along the lines of restoring them to their former beauty but with more modern conveniences. She only hopes the contractor that she has been referred with be one willing to work with her.
Gage Purcell had hoped that a job would open up for him in the mining time of Ouray, that is the reason he decided to move back to town, along with finding a fresh start for him and his young daughters Emma and Cassidy. After all that time in school obtaining a degree in becoming a mining engineer he had hoped that would be a no brainer, but with no work possibilities on foreseeable horizon, he agrees to check out a restoration project for the new owner of Granny's Kitchen. What he discovers is that she appears to be exactly just like his ex-wife Tracy, who walked away from their family after the birth of their second child and never looked back. He has women like this all figured out, all business and only one thing in mind, their next business prospect. But it is possible he has it all wrong?
I received A Father's Second Chance by Mindy Obenhaus compliments of Harlequin Love Inspired Publishers and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation, aside for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is such a heartwarming and quaint romance just perfect for this time of year. It's short enough to finish in a day but feels as if you have read a full length novel. Reminds me of the kinds of stories I wrote when I was much younger and ones I still very much enjoy today. This time with a country cook and a handsome handyman with two adorable daughters added to the mix, makes for a wonderful 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion.
