Every once in awhile I need "fluff" reading for a bit of escape from dealing with real life, and these books certainly qualify. Adventure, action packed, obstacles overcome, happy ending....but leaving you dissatisfied when all is said and done. Very contrived, and as others have noted, fantastical, which in the end makes the stories quite unbelievable. The heroine's love for her parents is quite offset by her stupidity. Medical reports say young people's brains do not mature in their reasoning until they hit their 20s....and this series offers a prime example. Add to that, it is far more explicit than I expected to find in a Christian book...making it totally inappropriate to share with a teen. All in all, quite disappointing.

This review was written for A Duke's Promise - eBook.
book 3 and I continued reading after books 1 and 2 - did her mom REALLY do that? should she have been put in a situation where there was even a choice? Pretty steamy - if I weren't married I would have had a hard time with the effects and desires of that scene. Personally I don't think it belonged in a Christian book.

My other 'problem' is the Duke's condition that he sometimes suffers from- and the explanation of the first time he heard of the heroine in the story- they don't fit. so, in short, there are other books to read.

I'm not at all certain there are enough words to describe the emotions this powerful story has invoked within me!

In my review of book 2, I said that I hope they NEVER make it into a movie because they'll just ruin it and I still feel that way. But I am amazed at the irony of that statement because there is a note about a certain part of the book only being shown properly on-screen. I simply can not explain it - except to say that it was an odd insight.

I also mentioned that I was quite happy about there was another book because it meant the adventure had not come to a close but now that it has, it is indeed bittersweet.

I love the way the story has ended and I am amazed at how Jamie Carie was able to leave the story with such a feeling of possibility. Even though this story has come to an end, there is such a feeling of what is still to come.

The third book in Jamie Carie's Forgotten Castles series is a shining beacon of what God's love is capable of accomplishing and even though the path of our heroes is not completely free of obstacles, their steps are clearly being led by God's own hand.

The third book is certainly the most serious of the three but it is done so very well, the story simply flows from the second and I applaud Jamie's talent once again.

Like me, you may not wish for the series to end, but you certainly do not want to miss this book. And don't be surprised if you find your heart a little broken as you turn the last pages.

At least Jamie Carie has written stories of other adventures we can enjoy!

Thank you to B&H for providing me with this free review copy! The opinions above are my own.

United and off on their honeymoon, Alex and Gabriel are determined to find Alex's missing parents. Following paths, taking risks, and facing dangers not thought of, the two find their quest daunting. Foes are ever near, but friends appear when hope is lost.

This is a fast moving story with vivid characters, surprising action, and well researched to fit the historical background.

Jamie has written a wonderful conclusion to her series, destined to be read by many dreamers, who seek adventure, discovery, and especially the journey!

I found this a very enjoyable read. The story opens just before Alexandria and Gabriel's wedding. I found it interesting some of the conversation between Alex and her attendant regarding the wedding night. But it plays into the storyline and a secret that Alex kept from Gabriel. I love the romance and the humor between Alex and Gabriel.

The storyline was different than anything I've read before. I enjoyed the adventure aspect of the story as Alex and Gabriel. The author did a great job as she told the story of weaving the characters thoughts and feelings. I enjoyed watching the development of faith in all the characters, but especially Gabriel as he dealt with his affliction.

I was a little surprised by the ending. Not what I expected, but that's okay it was entertaining.

This is book 3 in a series and I didn't read the previous ones. I felt fairly comfortable with following the story, though I think I would have enjoyed it even more had I read the others. Still an enjoyable story and I would read more by this author.

I did receive this book from the publisher through however, I'm only expected to give my honest opinion.
