Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMJuly 29, 2021FitzysmomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I loved this book and am so excited that it is only book one in the series! This is a Regency romance set in London and the surrounding area. If you are part of the elite class the prospect of becoming an unwed mother in this timeframe is sure to cast the woman out of society and doom her and her child to a life of poverty.. A decade ago Kit set out to change this for a hand-full of women and children.
This is a complex story that delves into all of the elements that polite society put upon its members. I thoroughly enjoyed every page. I really appreciated that the author allowed the reader to look at the situation from all angles. It really should be on your to read list if you enjoy the Regency time period.
EmilyAnne285 Stars Out Of 5Great Christian Regency RomanceJuly 15, 2020EmilyAnne28Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A Defense of Honor by Kristi Ann Hunter is the first book in a new series of Christian regency romance.
Many years ago, Kit and her friends decided to start an orphanage, in a hidden country estate, for the abandoned, illegitimate children of the nobility. Business takes her to London, and she runs into Lord Graham. He is searching for his sister and begins to follow Kit because he believes she might hold the answer. Can Kit keep the children hidden?
Kristi Ann Hunter is one of my favorite authors, and I jumped on the chance to read this book. It didnt disappoint. The romance was a lot of fun, especially because of all the secrets to unravel and the suspense and misunderstandings that brought. Not that I would find it particularly fun to live through, but it was interesting to watch and see what would happen next. I also liked the characters themselves, because many of them had memorable personalities, and I enjoyed watching the way that they grew into better people.
This book was very enjoyable to read, and since I already read the rest of the series, let me say that I loved all of those books as well. It is a good series with cute romances, quirky characters, some humor, and historical cultural details fitted seamlessly into the story. I highly recommend it.
I received a complementary copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for sharing them.
Robin Willson5 Stars Out Of 5Hooked right away!April 15, 2020Robin WillsonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Set in 1816 England. Christian Historical Romance
Characters who are people you would like to know. This held my interest right from the beginning. Graham (Lord Wharton) is at a party for London's society when he spies a girl behind some of the potted shrubbery. Her hand darts out to grab some of the pastry off the tray of a passing servant. Hooked!
I received this book free from the publisher and NetGalley book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Regency DelightOctober 31, 2019KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am reading this series from the inside out -- started with the second book, then the novella -- which comes between the first and second book and finally landed on Defense of Honor where it all begins. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the release of A Pursuit of Home which comes out next week. All that to say...
Eeeeeepppppp!!!! I'm in a full-blown, tailspinning Regency swoon!!!! Electrified by a tizzy of post-reading aftershocks while my anticipation for Jess's story has me in a permanent twitterpated state. Phew! This is me brimming with Regency Euphoria. :-)
Love Kit and Graham's story!!! The first time they meet is absolute perfection -- intriguing, mysterious, playful. Lighthearted banter with an undercurrent of urgency. Be still my heart! I went into rabid reader mode and didn't come up for air until I finished the book.
Kit is so determined and resourceful, but she has a vulnerable side too. As dedicated as she is to the women and children she serves, there's a part of her that yearns for what she's exiled herself from -- her own happily ever after. And her spiritual epiphany is so touching! Grace versus works and placing complete trust in the Lord really challenge her and I love the way Graham helps her figure things out.
Speaking of Lord Wharton! Prepare your fainting couches! Grab your smelling salts and a fan or two and be prepared to be be swept off your feet. His pursuit of Kit is toe-curling and the rambunctious way he plays with the children....I have no words. He's not perfect, mind you and comes to his own reckoning, but he is Kit's perfect match. If only she realized that!
A scrumptiously delightful must-read for Regency lovers who enjoy an inspirational romance.
Just Jennifer Purcell4 Stars Out Of 5Kristi Ann Hunter's books are always goodAugust 24, 2019Just Jennifer PurcellKristi Ann Hunter's Regency romances always have a perfect blend of humor and spiritual takeaways. A Defense of Honor is no different. Hunter creates a careful balance between the serious subject matter and the humorous personality of hero Graham, Lord of Wharton. Kit's seriousness is sometimes a bit much, but her take-charge attitude is exactly what Haven Manor needs, even if she doesn't go about it the right way. But the best way Hunter rounds her cast of characters is with motherly Daphne, street smart Jess, dramatic Oliver, down-to-earth Aaron, and the adorable children. How Hunter manages to give each character their own personality is beyond me, but she does a great job of giving each character their own voice.
