Convenient Christmas Wedding, in the Frontier Bachelors, by Regina Scott
Proposing a marriage of convenience to a rugged logger is the boldest move of Nora Underhill's sheltered life. In return for Simon Wallin's protection from her overbearing family, the unassuming seamstress offers prime frontier farmland. Their paper marriage changes when Nora's greedy brother tries to draw her back into a life of drudgery. Her only option is to move to Simon's farm, and into the center of his loving, unruly family. Years of shouldering responsibility have left Simon cynical and reserved. Little by little, Nora's warmth opens his shuttered heart to joy. With their marriage claim under threat, can this practical arrangement blossom over the holidays and become a love for all seasons?

Thats why I was delighted to receive A Convenient Christmas wedding before the hustle and bustle of the season really begins to kick in. Now I find I am in a joyful frame of mind as I undertake the tasks and fun that prepare our hearts and home for celebrating Jesus birth.
This latest installment of Frontier Bachelors finds us revisiting Wallin Landing and the family that is creating the town little by little. This novel belongs to Simon, the infinitely practical and sometimes infuriating Wallin brother. I really enjoyed getting to know his personality and found I could relate to him, sometimes better than to his bride, Nora, an always cheerful and giving woman who marries Simon in a desperate attempt to escape a horrible family situation.
I love that we get a lot of historical detail, especially of Christmas traditions. I enjoy learning how Christmas was celebrated historically, about the Yule Log tradition and the kissing bough; the differences between the latter and mistletoe is interesting, but the scene it lends itself to is both touching and romantic, one of the best parts of the story, in my opinion.
The romance between the couple who marries for convenience, not expecting love but merely a business arrangement of sorts, is a sweet one that takes its time, relatively speaking. The love develops over the whole of the novel, though the time frame it encompasses is not very long. It does seem natural and endearing, however; I never feel as if the author tries too hard to make sparks ignite between the characters, it just happens because it occurs naturally between the two people involved. Simon and Nora each learn what it means to giveand receivelove over the course of the story.
With her trademark humor and spot on historical detail, Regina Scott has penned another winner for readers. I would highly recommend this book to those who enjoy historical romance, especially frontier-type stories, and to anyone who would like to enter into the Christmas spirit a little bit more fully. Though easily read as a standalone, those who have enjoyed previous Frontier Bachelors novels will delight in the recurring characters and the updates to their stories, too.
I received a free copy of this book from the author but no compensation for this review. I was not required to write a favorable one and the opinions expressed are both honest and my own.

I have not read any of the previous books and had no trouble keeping up with this one, so I will say it is a stand alone book. However if the first four are as good as this one I now need to go back and read them all. I know there is history with this town and the Wallin family.
Simon Wallin is a cynical, hardworking, opinionated man. He is not looking for romance, he just wants what is best for his family. When the somewhat corky Nora Underhill hatches a plan that will help him and his family he is not sure what to think. Their relationship takes some twist, turns and misunderstandings but it is fun to watch them figure it all out.
Nora feels Simon is her only hope of standing up to her brother. Will he accept her proposal and if so will everything work out as she has planned. Nora has a heart of gold but finds herself in a tight situation.
The entire Wallin family is fun, loving and has personalities all their own. I love how they stick together and stick their nose into each others business.

Regina Scott has a special gift in writing and her words will transport you back through time and craving more as you read this historic love story.
Sweet, shy Nora proposes a marriage to the stubborn Simon Wallin. Following the proposal, a marriage agreement is made and youll be glued to each page after that. This truly is a sweet love story and if you love romance and Christmas like me, then this is the perfect story to get you in the mood for this holiday season!

Every book that I have read by Regina Scott becomes my new favorite and A Convenient Christmas Wedding is no exception. This could be due to the fact that its story centers around a marriage of convenience (which I absolutely love as a storyline) or that it takes place during the most wonderful time of the year. Either way her newest release is as tantalizing as all the rest and ranks right next to any of her others in its ability to bring excitement and joy. I mean lets be honest, could anything be better than reading a story that transports you back in time to a world filled with wonder during the Christmas season?
So, to the fellow readers out there, if you love stories that have the ability to take you on a journey, make you feel the emotions of the characters as if you were them yourself, and leave you craving more at the end of the story, then A Convenient Christmas Wedding is a must read for you!
