Edward5 Stars Out Of 5July 26, 2010EdwardI'm using Dr Steveson's Commentary on Proverbs to guide the young people in our church in their study of the Book of Proverbs. I've found the commentary very helpful, biblical, and thorough. Praise the Lord for a conservative and well-researched commentary based on the Massoretic Text.
Tom Howe5 Stars Out Of 5February 12, 2009Tom HoweThis commentary handles the proverbs as more than pithy little statements. It does two things well. First, it has an indepth look at the many different sections of proverbs (although not a critical commentary) devoting a balanced focus on the Hebrew, syntax, and commentary thought rather than merely retelling the proverb (as some commentaries seem to do). The author's work shows how each proverb can be useful today. Additionally, the author avoids treating Proverbs as an anthology but rather keeps a wholistic, thematic view of Proverbs through the book.
Shawna Taylor5 Stars Out Of 5October 4, 2007Shawna TaylorI love this book! I recently began teaching the new Kay Arthur Proverbs study and this has been a great help. Verse by verse, with indepth word studies. The footnotes give as much insight as the book itself. A wonderful Bible study tool.
Donn Heinrich5 Stars Out Of 5April 10, 2001Donn HeinrichA great help in understanding the book of Proverbs. It is an excellent resource for understanding each verse. Dr. Steveson's book should be in every pastor's library!
