I have no formal bible education but God has given me a Love for His word. Therefore I believe that I should teach those who want to learn more of the bible than they already do. That said, I found this book rewarding. It is a little difficult so I will have to review my underlines and notes and maybe read it again to get the most out of it. Yes this book is just a little over my head but I know with the power of the Holy Spirit and a little extra effort it will pay off as I lead small groups.

The book talks about bible translations, too many facts and not enough meaning, the genre and structure of a passage and finding the big idea just to name some of the subjects that are covered. Also there is a chapter on how to ask questions that keep the small group participants engaged and teaches them to study the bible inductively.

If you have a heart for God's word then get this book. So that you may deepen your own understanding of the bible and teach others. The biggest problem in Christianity is bible illiteracy. We cannot just leave it up to our Pastors on Sunday mornings.

The harvest is plenty but the workers are few.
