Publisher's Description

Let Every Breath You Take Be an Act of Worship

Worship is more than singing on Sunday morning. While that’s part of it, worship is the essence of what makes us truly human. God sparked this desire within our hearts from the day He first breathed life into Adam and Eve. Since then, every single human who has walked this planet has participated in this God-given ability, and divine quest. While many have squandered their gift, there are those who find the wonder-filled life of communion with God no matter the time or place.

True freedom comes when worship flows through us as naturally as the air we breathe, when the words and actions in our lives resonate with our Creator so deeply that every inhalation is full of meaning. When we understand the holiness of the God who knows the stars by name—and His overwhelming love for each one of us—how can we offer anything less?

In The Air I Breathe, Louie Giglio explains in passionate prose what it means to truly live a life of worship, offering insight and guidance for finding our personal path towards connecting with the God of the Universe.

Editorial Reviews

"At last, Louie Giglio has put into print the message God birthed in him years ago…a message that has shaped a generation of students, a message that has sent shock waves through the church, a message that has the potential to profoundly impact your worship."
— ANDY STANLEY, Senior Pastor, North Point Ministries and Author of Next Generation Leader

"I’m not a worship guy…er, so I thought, but Louie’s book nailed me. After reading his book I finally ’get’ worship. Louie helped me realize that worship is an all-the-time thing, a life thing. I was encouraged by this book. Mostly I was moved by Louie’s obvious passion for God and his gift for making worship make sense."
— MICHAEL YACONELLI, Owner, Youth Specialties

"Some of the most inspiring teaching on worship I’ve ever heard has come from the mouth of Louie Giglio. Having read The Air I Breathe I can now say the same of Louie’s gift to communicate through the written word. This book has inspired me as a worshiper, and as a worship leader."
— MATT REDMAN, Author of The Unquenchable Worshipper and The Heart of Worship

"Don’t read The Air I Breathe unless you want to reexamine your life to see whom or what you are truly worshiping on a daily basis. Louie spells it out in plain language: Learning the real meaning of worship is the most essential element in the spiritual journey of the Christian. In the end, our worship is more about what we do than what we say."
— BILLY RAY HEARN, Founder, Sparrow Records

"Louie Giglio explores what God desires most in our worship with clarity and insight. Upon reading The Air I Breathe, you’ll be both challenged and liberated to discover that true worship inescapably involves who you are—all the time."
— DR. CHARLES F. STANLEY, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia

"Louie Giglio communicates Christian truth in a wonderfully accessible and relevant way. The Air I Breathe is packed full of gems that inspire and encourage. He says everything I would want to say about worship—only he says it much, much better. This is a prophetic and timely book."
— MIKE PILIVACHI, Pastor, Soul Survivor Church, Watford, United Kingdom

"This book is a challenging reminder that our worship is for God and not for ourselves."
— BILL HEARN, President and CEO, EMI Christian Music Group

We were made/created to worship. Period. "That's why you and I are going to spend our lives declaring the worth of something." There is a hole in us that we seek to fill in a number of ways but there is only One way. Through Christ. Take a moment to look around you or think of those in your daily contact group. Each and every one of us, as humans, spend our days worshiping what we love. Whatever you love, you WILL worship.

In The Air I Breathe: Worship As A Way of Life, Giglio reminds us that God reveals himself to us each and every minute of the day if we will only observe. The maker of the universe is right beside you and me, every moment of every day. He made creation to be enjoyed but not worshipped. He gave you the ability to do your job and do it well, but not to worship. Your family, financial resources, health, etc. are all gifts from above but are not meant to be elevated to the highest place in our hearts. Many worldly things are going to battle for your heart. Determine today to allow God to win that battle.

I originally chose this book for my son who has attended several Passion conferences and has loved listening to Louie Giglio. What I found in this book were pointed reminders for myself that weren't all new but a wake-up call about how I am spending my time and resources. The book was easy to read and digest (can be done in a few hours but wouldn't recommend doing so in order to give you time to ponder Giglio's words) and gave me a goal for the new year to allow worship to be my day, not simply a part of my week. As I read, I could almost picture myself standing before God as he asked me questions about all the times I was distracted in my life and my worship proved what was most important to me and I simply lowered my head in shame.

Is what you are worshipping and declaring to be of greatest value going to be worthy in the long run? "Don't waste your worship on a little god."

I did receive this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review and am in no way obligated to write a positive one. While not typically a non-fiction reader, this is a book I can recommend without reservation.

Pastor Louis gently shows us that we are made to worship - Someone, someone else, or something. We all are made to worship and we all choose Who/what we give our affection to. A must read and ponder book.

This little book is worth your time! And since it's small it won't take long to read it. I will probably re-read soon.

We were created to worship. Our problem is that we choose not to worship God. While thats definitely a problem for everybody, its especially a problem for believers, who call themselves by the name of Christ. Of all people, we ought not to be caught worshiping anything or anyone else! This little book (122 pages, including discussion questions and citations) packs a wallop as it directs our eyes away from man-centered definitions of worship, instead asking us to consider how God defines worship. And its not wholly related to our music.Does music play a part? Sure, because music in most Sunday morning services is designed to help us stop thinking about ourselves (usually), and fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of faith. But we cant live unGodly lives during the week and expect our words on Sunday mornings to please God. The mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart, says Matt. 12:34, and if the meditations of our heart are unacceptable to Him, the words coming out of our mouths are only lies. But Giglio doesnt leave us there. He moves us from being aware of the problem to being part of the solution. We must change our minds about what worship is, and learn how to work with God to topple those idols, exchanging worship of a lie for worshiping in spirit and truth. A hint: its not about what you say. Its about what you do. Not just on Sunday mornings, but all week long.Obviously, worship is a topic that needs more than 100 pages to work through, especially because its the primary task to which God has called all His saints. But with the profusion of idols in every heart, the task of being conformed to the image of the Son can seem daunting; we dont know even how to begin. Louie Giglio has written a little book, but this little book can go a long way to help us renew our minds as we cooperate with the Spirit of God to renovate the throne-rooms of our hearts.
