I really don't know what the differences are in this version and the previous releases, so I can only speak to his edition. The book is written by Louis Giglio.
While I found the contents basis for hope, I do not necessarily see the world as Giglio does in regards to God's directing the lives of humans. I think my take is more that God works together solutions to life's situations rather than ordaining them from the beginning. I tend to read this book as though Giglio emphasizes God's sovereignty in a manner which I am not quite comfortable with. Perhaps it is my take on what Giglio writes, but I perceive this book more about God putting all things in place to cause a difficulty to then provide a Comeback than I believe.
I do believe God has the ability to bring about amazing transformations and comebacks, so the overall tenor of this book is quite inspirational when one realizes we should never give up hope because God is continually on the move.
All in all, I think this is a positive work and well written, I am just not sure I agree theologically with the entirety of Giglio's positions. Maybe I read more into the work than was intended, but I can't give this a full 5-star review because of my difference of opinion on this point.
I received a copy of this for free from BookLook Blogger for a review. A positive review was not required.
toknowhim4 Stars Out Of 5Comeback ReviewFebruary 20, 2016toknowhimQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5My latest review is of the book, The Comeback by Louie Giglio. I received this book complimentary from BookLook Bloggers, and in turn am writing this review.
First of all, I was drawn to the book because Louie wrote it. I have come to really like Louie Giglio after watching him preach at the Passion conferences. I too heard him on a TV program, and he was being interviewed about this book, The Comeback. He shared a story about his struggle with anxiety for a season in his life, and I wanted to read more about it in his book. Louie does share about his season of suffering from anxiety and panic in his book, but The Comeback is about so much more.
On the back cover of the book, it reads, "God is the God of the Comeback, and God is creating a Comeback especially for you". Louie shares how God offers everyone a chance for a "Comeback" no matter how many mistakes he/she has made. I think in today's culture that is a message that people are dying to hear.
Louie's book is a combination of personal testimonies (his included) and examples of biblical characters that have had a "Comeback". Some of his examples from the bible included the stories of Joseph, Peter, Lazarus, Mary and Martha. Louie writes in such a way that helps the reader to understand the details of how these biblical characters had failures and disappointments, but God offered them a chance to have a Comeback. You will be encouraged in your own life that God can offer you a chance to comeback after you have failed.
This book is an easy read and is loaded with helpful, biblical insight. I think anyone would benefit from reading this book as it was a very encouraging read. Thank you BookLook Bloggers for giving me this book.
RachelGender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Let the Comeback BeginJanuary 9, 2016RachelGender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Comeback is a book of just that, comebacks. It doesn't matter if you've followed Jesus your whole life or have never heard of him, you can have the comeback you have been waiting for. In the book Louie explains that whether you need the ultimate comeback (a relationship with Jesus) or the comeback of remembering that God is always working in your life, you can have it. Even when we can't see it God's hand is always at work.
I love Louie Giglio! His writing is wonderful. He has a way of explaining things in a way that makes it easy to understand. I know after the way the past few months have been for me I needed to read this book. This book is meant as an encouragement. Even during the trials of life it helps us to remember God is always there and a comeback is just around the corner. No matter where you are in your life this book has something you can learn from it. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

Kara LynnWVAge: 18-24Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5A book that shouldn't be missed by ANYONEDecember 7, 2015Kara LynnWVAge: 18-24Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We all need a comeback at least once in our lives. We will fall, we will mess up and make mistakes, and life can feel like it's crashing down on top of us. The great thing is Jesus gives us the comeback we need, no matter what we've done, who we are, or how long we've been wandering in the wilderness, there is a hope.
Each comeback is different, each person with his or her own story, and Louie Giglio takes us on that journey, because God is the God of the comeback.
Honestly this book, the stories, the encouragement are for me at this moment. I felt I needed this book when I saw it for free on BookLook, and I made no mistake. Louie Giglio is one of my favorite pastors, and now one of my favorite authors.
I heard pieces of his message talking about comebacks on air1, and they encouraged me so much.
Mr. Giglio writes out a powerful message that each one of us needs to hear, one of hope for our future. He uses stories from his life and the Bible to illustrate what a comeback looks like.
He takes us on a journey talking about being filled with the love of Jesus, God is enough, healing, it never being too late and you're never too far. And the author also realizes that each comeback story doesn't always end happily. Sometimes the dark road continues and we don't see the bigger picture, but that doesn't mean God isn't working. No matter what, He never, ever, leaves us.
These are things we all need to hear!
Honestly, (and I'll say it again), this book was for me. I've been struggling lately with what God wants me to do and everything I try seems to fail, but God is right there to pick me up, to direct me right on the path where he wants me.
This book I HIGHLY recommend to anyone - no matter where you are in life. Both teens and adults will enjoy this book as well as the message. This isn't one to be missed!
bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Helping us see the big pictureDecember 1, 2015bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Adversity will come, whether it be from our own decisions or unforeseen circumstances. Giglio wants us to know a sovereign God sits above the fray and that His plans will prevail.
God is in the business of giving fresh starts to people. God sees our needs. He has good in mind for us. Difficult circumstances do not always have the final say in our lives. Yet, Giglio knows that problems won't always be solved. God offers His presence and in that a deeper solution is found. The solution is not our trying harder but in a relationship with Jesus
Giglio draws many lessons from biblical stories and his own experiences. We learn from Joseph, for example, that our story is part of God's story. We learn from Samson that it is never too late and we are never too far gone. We learn from Lazarus that it may not work out the way we had planned.
While God is in control of our comeback, we do need to acknowledge our condition and submit ourselves to Him. Once we have done that, God is able to restore us by His grace. Then we must respond - get up and get going.
Giglio realizes there are times when there won't be a comeback, like in the death of a spouse. Not every story has a happy conclusion on this side of eternity. And we may never know the why. But we do have Jesus and He can become enough for us.
This is a good book of encouragement for those who feel in the midst of a storm. Giglio offers help and encouragement from biblical stories and helps us see the bigger picture. The biblical stories Giglio uses are retold in detail so this would be a good book for those not familiar with the Bible.
Food for thought: The story is never just about you and me; it's always about God's glory and his work on planet earth.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
