Product Description

Benjamin is a Watchman. It's his job to watch for the sign that all God's promises are coming true---to watch a stump. Trouble is, it's hard just waiting. And one night, Benjamin finally gives in and stops watching. But that same night, as he sits outside Bethlehem, he gets to watch something wonderful. Kids will be gripped by what Benjamin saw, and will be excited by the Christmas story all over again.

Editorial Reviews

We are often conflicted about how to talk to kids at Christmastime. The whirl of tinsel and wrapping paper can leave the incarnation obscured. In this book, Scott James equips families and churches to proclaim Christ at Christmas. The book is biblically rich, beautifully illustrated, and narratively engaging for children—and for those who love them. -- Russell D. Moore (Editor in Chief, Christianity Today)

The Littlest Watchman will not only encourage our children as they contemplate the coming of Christ, but also encourage the child in each of us as we eagerly wait for his return!
The Littlest Watchman is a delightful reminder for children about Advent being a season of expectation. Scott takes visual metaphor and biblical truths together to blend a rich story from both the Old and New Testaments about the birth of Jesus. A great book for all ages to see Christmas through the eyes of those who awaited the Messiah.
Through this imaginary tale of waiting and anticipation, James offers a re-telling of the promise that began in the garden—that God would send a rescuer for his people, a promise reiterated again and again in different ways. … My son insisted on reading it again and again since it arrived.
The Littlest Watchman will not only encourage our children as they contemplate the coming of Christ, but also encourage the child in each of us as we eagerly wait for his return! -- David Platt (David Platt, Lead pastor of McLean Bible Church in metro Washington, D.C. and founder of Radical.)

The Littlest Watchman takes us to a familiar place by a fresh, fantastic route. It’s a new way into an old story, the Christmas story, and it helps us love it even more. Scott James is a faithful storyteller who loves the truth, but this story reveals that his imagination is alive and active. I enthusiastically recommend this book!

I love the way Scott James makes Isaiah’s prophecy come to life in the story of The Littlest Watchman. Scott provides parents with a creative way to introduce young children to the big picture story of the Bible and ends the book with the Christmas story and the good news of the gospel.
The Littlest Watchman is a lovely little story. I look forward to years of reading it with my son in hopes that he, too, will grow up to be a Watchman.
A little book that helps young hearts grasp the big story of the Bible.
It's hard to wait. Especially when you're a kid. But waiting in hope for God to keep his promise is what advent is about. With The Littlest Watchman, Scott James makes waiting for God to come through on his word more concrete for kids. It's a story you'll want to rehearse with your children year after year.
This is a beautiful story, full of wonder and expectation. I look forward to reading this with my own children, sharing with them the wonder of Christ's first coming and teaching them to wait expectantly for his return, even when it's hard to wait. -- Courtney Reissig (Author of Teach Me to Feel and Glory in the Ordinary)
