Tell us a little about yourself. I am a homeschooling mother of five children. I
have been homeschooling for seven years. My
husband and I reside in Illinois.
What was your motivation behind this project? This product was designed with the person who
loves unit studies in mind. This planner is
perfect for recording regular curriculum studies
but also allows the teacher to record any units
of study they do, keeping track of projects,
books, videos, and so much more. It has a page
for jotting down unit ideas that might want to be
studied at a later date, and a page for
summarizing the units that have been studied. The
lesson plan pages are similar to the curriculm
planner with one exception, they have a box for
each day of the week where "work done together"
can be listed. This eliminates the need to write
down the same thing several times for each of the
children. The planner is designed for multiple
childen or multiple year use. This makes it much
more economical and organized for the
homeschooling teacher.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope this planner will in some way help parents
to expand out into acting on those teachable
moments when their child takes an interest in a
particular topic of study. If you do any unit
studies at all this planner can serve your need
in recording them, even if most of your studies
revolve around curriculum.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I depend on the direction of God for all of my
homeschooling endeavors. He is so faithful in
guiding me in just the perfect direction for each
of my children
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: One of my hardest times when I began teaching was
my need to be overly organized. I was permanently
attatched to my plans and became overwhelmed
quickly. In the front of each planner is a
scripture, Proverbs 16:3, that God encouraged me
with. It reminded me to make my plans but to
submit them to Him so they would be successful.
We must be willing to change our plans as the
Lord directs if we are to experience success in
teaching our children.
