Simply Shop and SaveOntario, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Book provides good insight on purpose managementApril 26, 2011Simply Shop and SaveOntario, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Lavaille Lavette has been living her life on a time management lifestyle. She was efficiently accomplishing tasks by doing the best on what she was already doing. Some years later, she came up with a new way called "purpose management" which is a new concept to me. This new way of looking challenged her to make use of 86400 seconds in a day (or 24hours). She writes, "When you master your purpose, you can maximize the impact of your day." Often we are challenged to think about how we use every second.
To accomplish this goal, we need to master the following characteristics: forgiveness; wisdom; dedication; balance; imagination; thankfulness; patience; faithfulness; generosity; and courage. I agree with her that if you lack any of these characteristics, you can't keep in line and on track of making our day really count. For instance, if we can't forgive an offence, then subconsciously, it can take over our mind and lead to bitterness, gossip, etc. These negative weights may not allow us to focus on the present and have a right relationship with ourself, others, and God.
Laville provides us with many personal and professional references to illustrate each virtue to give the reader understanding of these characteristics. I had to skip over some of these examples because I thought it had way too many references and was too lengthy.
I appreciated reading the information about purpose management and 86400 has encouraged me to reflect into some of these areas in my life and make some positive changes. Consequently, I think that readers would benefit with these thought provoking ideas to help you in your life making it more purposeful!
Lavaille is so passionate about making life have a "Purpose Management philosophy", that she has created the 86400 movement.
