Tell us a little about yourself. I am the Publisher at Ellechor Media an award-winning publishing company with three imprints and an online bookstore. As publisher and Authorpreneur Business Consultant, I provide publishing consulting services for various authors, and managing the acquisition and production process for all of Ellechor's imprints. Through my company, I publish books with a purpose. Ellechor Media imprints have published over 40 books in less than three years, 98% of which enjoy 4-star or higher Amazon ratings.
What was your motivation behind this project? Firstly, my passion lies in educating authors and helping them to avoid as many publishing regrets as possible. I started out writing The Seven Step Guide to Authorpreneurship as a small guide for Ellechor authors. However, as I continued writing I realized that it could help a broader audience of authors. The book is based on my experiences with publishing and my own authors.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that authors will utilize as many of the tools I have provided in these steps so they can be successful authors. There are not many clear guides with the entire process all in one place, so this book takes a lot of the guess work out of publishing and marketing.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I am very introverted, so despite having written a book on putting yourself out there as an author, I was inclined as some authors to "quietly release" and not make too much of a buzz. My book was a great kick in the pants to remind me that I have to walk the talk. It motivated me to create a plan that was comfortable yet challenging, pushing me to do more and more in the public. I am glad to say after following my own advice, I launched my book with 15+ endorsements from bestselling authors and industry professionals (including the Dir. of Bowker Identifier Services and the Dir. Christian Small Publishers Association).
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Publishing is a team sport, so as with any team you need the right players to augment your strengths and support your weaknesses. I offer a free consultation to help authors select their team, but of course I suggest you start with The Seven Step Guide to Authorpreneurship!
