Tell us a little about yourself. I am married, and have three adult children spread across the country. After retiring from a career in nursing, God lead me to write "66 Books and a Challenge".
What was your motivation behind this project? I don't want people to believe Satan's subtle lie that the Bible is too hard to read or understand. It's fun to have Bible drills, great to learn about God's Word, and fantastic to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Folks will learn that God's Word is not intimidating. I like to point out things that I've found that help me remember where the Bible books are located, and help them dig deeper into God's Word. Here's a few: There are 39 books in the Old Testament. Multiply 3 x 9, and you have the number of books in the New Testament. The phrase 'Just Pray and Praise in Every Situation' helps us remember the names of the 5 books of Poetry (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon). I learned Galatians-Ephesians, Philippians-Colossians by remembering Gal meets Boy (think of Ephe as a boy's name, they Flip over each other, then Collide (come together) into marriage. What comes after Hebrews? Think of the Hebrews who followed Jesus: James, Peter, John. Most of all, learn what God has to say to us in His Word so we can live a victorious Christian life now.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Working on this project led me to a deeper understanding of God's Word. I learn more because it's a Living Word. It amazes me when I discover something new in scripture, even though I've read the same passage more-than-once before. I'm still learning, growing. I want to learn more about the God who created this great universe. He created me. I want to become more aware of His presence and His love for me. Christians, including myself, don't realize that we're already victorious and have God's gifts because we're not aware of them. We don't get into God's Word enough.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Satan would love for you to believe the Bible is intimidating. It's too hard. It doesn't make sense. So they don't even try. Nonsense! The Bible is a gift from God. It's His Word. Sure, it's challenging. Take the challenge. Discover the treasures. Abraham, Joseph, Elijah...these were real people. Is it possible to trust that God loves you and cares for you? Is the Bible true? Read it. You'll be amazed at what you find.
