Mary Ellis is the bestselling author of many books, including A Widow's Hope, An Amish Family Reunion, and Living in Harmony. She and her husband live in central Ohio, where they try to live a simpler style of life.

I liked the main characters for their kindness, generosity, and ability to forgive. I appreciated the way that the author handled the social problem of gambling addiction. The people in this book intrigued me so much that I bought the first two books in her Secrets of the South Mysteries.
GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Overcoming the PastMay 19, 2017GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5As I finished reading this book, I was looking forward to the next one. Mary Ellis again brings a lot of suspense, mystery, faith, and romance into the story to make for an interesting read. When I started this series, I thought it was going to feature Nicki and anticipated more of her bluntness and bull in a china shop approach but Nate has come to the forefront in this story along with Isabelle and two new additions to his PI firm, Elizabeth and Michael. Besides the factors mentioned, I especially enjoyed when Elizabeth took Michael to her aunt and uncle's to teach him to shoot a firearm. Her warnings to him about what would happen if she took him there more than three times was hilarious. Although the main characters do not flaunt their faith, the reader senses an undercurrent that reflects a depth to their faith that gets them through some difficult situations while searching for the truth, chasing down perpetrators, and helping folks find closure. The messages are subtle but nonetheless present as an encouragement to readers to live their faith.
Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Keeps you guessingNovember 7, 2016Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Does a pastor who commits suicide go to heaven? An intersting question that leaves a wife and parishioners concerned when Beth Kirby's former pastor "off's himself". His widow, however, seems to think he's been murdered. Beth and Michael from Price Investigations seem to think that would benefit her much more than an unclaimed insurance policy that won't payout with a suicide.
Price Investigations has got their hands full solving this one. Beth and Michael both PI's with Price Investigations get off to a rocky start. Beth's reputation with men in her workplace and Michael's tendency to jump the gun, make for an interesting combination. But working together, although providing a challenge, turns into a cultivated friendship that could possibly lead somewhere.
Nate, the owner of Price Investigations is away on a three week delayed honeymoon. Celebrating with his wife turns out to be anything but what he expected, when her ex-husband just happens to be in the same town.
Two mysteries in one, makes this book an exciting read. Jumping back and forth between Nate's honeymoon fiasco and Beth and Michael's PI competition, Mary feeds us a compelling story line. You won't want to put this one down, til you find out Who-done-it! This book will get your emotions involved as Michael and Beth's friendly/not-so-friendly banter gets a little testy at times. And the antagonist will quickly get under your skin as he tries to get back at Beth for something that transpired in their past.
As book three in a series, the main connection here is Price Investigations. Some of the characters are mentioned in both books, but the mysteries being solved are completely independent of each other and can be read as a stand alone. I am looking forward to whatever Mary comes up with next!!

Isabelle and Nate are now married, but have been saving for a house so they havent taken a honeymoon yet. Coworkers, friends and family pool their resources and send them on a honeymoon. Nate leaves Price Investigations in the hands of his employee, Beth Kirby and new trainee Michael Preston. While there, Isabelle thinks she sees her ex-husband walking out of a casino. He had a gambling addiction in the past, which led to the downfall of their marriage. He has remarried and joined Gamblers Anonymous, so why is he walking out of a casino? Has he succumbed to his addiction again? This leads Isabelle and Nate on a mystery as her ex is adamant that his new wife, whom he has left at home, Isabelle and Nate are in danger.
Beth Kirby is an ex-policewoman who left the force due to a romantic crush on her boss. Some of the other uniforms in the precinct thought she got her promotion to detective due to this relationship. She resigned and became a private investigator. She now works for Nate Price. She is given the task of training Michael, who is a whiz at computer stuff, but has no hands-on training at working an investigation. A local pastor is found dead and the investigating police office, Beths former partner at the precinct, views the death as a suicide. The victims wife refuses to believe that and comes to Beth, asking her to take on the investigation to prove the victim was murdered. Beth does find some incongruities, but isnt wild about having Michael tag along during her interviews. The two soon develop a tentative rapport while they continue to follow some missing money that everyone thinks the victim stole and that he killed himself because he couldnt live with what he had done. Beth and Michael hope to find evidence and recover the money before it disappears forever.
I really liked that this book had two mysteries going on at the same time. I also the interplay between Beth and Michael; I hope that a romance between those two is on the horizon. I also like reading about the cuisine and geography of the southern U.S. The message of faith is also evident in this story as well, which I greatly appreciate! There is a fourth book planned for this series titled, Sunset in Old Savannah. There is no release date yet, but Ill be reading it once it is released. I have enjoyed this series so far and have enjoyed getting to know the characters better with each installment.

Review: Enjoyed the book overall. I had trouble at the start because Beth was just plain stuck up. I was glad that she came down to earth half way through. Isabella was starting to go back to the less than gracious woman from the previous book. It was a little slower than the first and second book. I liked that there were 2 mysteries going on at once. It was an easy read, although it took me till almost half way to really get into the book. I did like Mike and Nate. Nates character was the most constant of all the characters.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Harvest House for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.
