Wonderful story about finding yourself and your way in the crazy mixed up world. What happens when the life you had suddenly gets tossed upside down? This story is a great addition to the first book and is a continuation of the first book but with a different main character. This book involves all emotions on the continuum and is a great read keeping you interested all throughout the book.

Fawn Blaylock's life changed forever with the realization that the small town of Trapp, Texas would possibly never justify her decision to carry her unborn child, while stubbornly refusing to marry its handsome, popular and very rich father. Exiling herself to a small rumored-to-be snaked infested cabin on the outskirts of town, she has resigned herself to a life of loneliness, refusing even her parents' feeble attempts to manipulate her with their money and fractured prestige.

John Scott Pickett has known Fawn Blaylock practically all his life. But his life dramatically changed the day that Pastor Dodd Cunningham signified his spiritual conversion with baptism by water. Now he must acknowledge that his newborn faith demands that he befriend the friendless, including Fawn. Somewhere between repairing her front porch steps and rescuing her from rattlesnakes, the town football coach and the ostracized socialite find common ground, and both of them like it. . .a lot. Unfortunately, the past has a strong grip on Fawn and an innocent baby's birth unearths decades of family secrets, until Fawn and John Scott are either left with nothing or everything . . . . .who will decide?

"Justified" was riddled with twists and turns of pace and personality, but ended really, really well.

From the gossipy small town of Trapp, Texas to the beauty of the Caprock Escarpment with its rolling plains hundreds of feet below, comes an enthralling story of a spoiled-little-rich-girl who has grown into a lovely, young woman in need - pregnant and unwed.

After being kicked out of her home by her father - the wealthiest man in Trapp - Fawn Blaylock moves into a run-down, old rental house with an awe-inspiring view of the Caprock where she can sit for hours, drink in the glory of the unbroken terrain, and bask in her shame. Gone are the designer jeans - baggy shorts and t-shirts have taken their place. Gone are most of her friends and judgmental, condemning townsfolk are now whispering behind her back. Her abusive, rich boyfriend and father of her baby, Tyler Cruz, is determined to win her back and promises Fawn for the fifth time he will never hurt her again.

Attractive and single, JohnScott Pickett, the reigning head coach of the Trapp Panthers football team, helps Fawn with repairs on her home and together they make a horrible and dangerous discovery on her land. When Tyler discovers another man spending a lot of time with Fawn, jealousy rears its ugly head and he begins to stalk her. However, Fawn knows that no decent man like JohnScott would ever pay attention to the likes of her and maybe, just maybe, this time Tyler will change. He is what she deserves, after all. Not even God could ever justify her sin - or could He?

WOW! Don't you just love a book that keeps calling to you every time you try to put it down? That's exactly what happened when I devoured Justified. It is such a well written, unpredictable read with fascinating characters and situations, that I just breezed right through it. I feel as though I really got to know Fawn and what made her tick and I loved how she evolved throughout the story. This book is not all doom and gloom, however, and there are many humorous and tender "aww" moments that will leave the reader smiling! I so hope that everyone who feels disheartened will sense the love of God course through them as they read the powerful pattern of redemption and forgiveness weaved throughout the pages of this remarkable novel.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Flawed characters are genuinely human and the author does an incredible job of showcasing the reasons they are flawed. It's hard to stay mad at a Denman creation. She shows that even the worst characters can be redeemed. And she does this wonderful thing where she reveals the ripple effect the choices we make carry on into the next generation. Honestly, there are characters in this book that I strongly disliked and yet Denman opened my heart to a deeper level of compassion with her carefully crafted story. Praying I'll remember that when dealing with the real 'characters' in my life.

In fact, Fawn was a secondary character in Jaded that I did not like at all. I wasn't even sure I wanted to read a whole book about her, Kudos to Denman for showing me the complexities and sorrows that make up Fawn Baylock. It wasn't long before I was championing her. Worrying myself into a frazzle over her. There were times I feared she was going to back pedal her way into disaster. Such a mix of fragility and strength. She's been a Christian all her life but she's just on the cusp of understanding what that actually means. Love the following quote because it shows exactly where Fawn's struggle lies.

"Where was God? Monday morning, Labor Day, I sat on the hood of the Chevy, picking at the polish on my thumbnail and waiting for Him to show up." (p. 163)

Love this authors 'voice', the way her words flow and fill up my head with indelible pictures. Not only am I living every second in these characters' shoes, I'm learning life lessons right along with them and that helps me stretch and grow into someone with a deeper connection to my Father in Heaven and the people around me.

This review was written for Justified: A Novel - eBook.
Well told. I've always liked learning what makes other people tick. Although you can pretty much guess how this story is going to go, it's getting to know the characters that matters. And as they are learning and growing in their faith, what their thought processes are and the conclusions it brings for them, and the stretching and changing that comes about. I think it's a great teaching/writing style that the characters sit and talk about their faith and share lessons they've learned. Even when one character pulls away from another it doesn't always weaken them - sometimes it brings about stronger faith and a stronger relationship to God and Christ than what they had before. And there just might be a twist in there that you won't expect.

God knows who He intends for us to end up with, and those whose lives we touch along the way. Fawn of course needs to forgive herself as she has been forgiven, but she also learns that she has more things in common with others in her family and the community than she thinks. Including people who have looked down on her after she became pregnant.

I normally stick to Christian Historical Fiction, but am glad that I branched out and read this story. I highly recommend it!
