While I knew this publisher was not going to present landforms and mapwork from a Biblical worldview, I did not expect an overt agenda. This book does not present a balanced view. It either says or strongly implies or leads students to conclude-- that ice is melting and polar bears will die, that dairy farmers and livestock can lead to global warming, that the U.S. uses more than its fair share of timber compared to the rest of the world, and has five pages dedicated to the women's movement complete with asking students for 5 activist steps that need to be taken to create equal workplaces. If you buy this book, you will need to explain that global warming is debatable, that many polar bear populations are growing not declining, that some studies show that raising livestock has positive impacts on ecosystems not to mention is a food source, that sustainable forestry management systems are in place as well as point out that the U.S. exports timber to other nations that need it for hospitals and homes. As for five pages dedicated to the women's movement and the wage gap, there is no mention that not all women are actually called to work. It states "The women's movement is marching forward, but there is still much work to be done!" God gave mankind the earth for his use and we are to be good stewards of it. Shell Publishing could have at least presented balanced views rather than agendas. Disappointing. Will not buy from this publisher again.
