"Hands down, the most fun I've had reading a book in a long time! With a plot reminiscent of a mystery dinner theater, the author gathers a cast of characters you will not soon forget into an English manor where murder, mayhem, and mystery ensue. Mystery, mayhem and a little bit of romance make this a delightful read. Set in the Victorian era, this book is based on the 12 days of Christmas and has many of the Victorian Christmas traditions sewn throughout its chapters. The author has definitely done her research and the result is an outstanding story!

Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The perfect book to jump start your Christimas reading list!September 21, 2017Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Imagine you are facing challenges in your daily life, where if you could have a wish, that problem would go away. What would you do? Would you accept an invitation to change your present circumstances by being the last person to leave Bleakly Manor after spending 12 days during Christmas as a guest? I'm sure most would and that is exactly the response that each of the guests expects when they arrive at Bleakly Manor without knowing what will happen when they arrive.
Clara Chapman who has found herself almost destitute and living with her ailing aunt is promised 500 pounds if she can stay for the entire 12 days. Mr. Minnow, Miss Scurry, Mr. Pocket, Mademoiselle Pretents and Mr. Benjamin Lane are arrive with their own unique set of promises to be fulfilled and the host of the affair remains a mystery and aloof. Instructed by the household staff to arrive for meals and certain presents await them at the bedroom doors, it soon becomes apparent that something sinister may be staged as first Mademoiselle Pretents jewelry is stolen, then unexplained accidents begin to happen to each of the guests until one by one, they begin to leave. First without a choice and then as each promise is granted, they voluntarily leave of their own accord.
For Clara Chapman and Benjamin Lane, they have a shared history. He was jailed for stealing the family fortune that left Clara's family destitute, while she assumed that Benjamin stole their fortunes and fled leaving her at the altar on their wedding day. Will the time being spent together fan the love they still have locked away in their hearts or will one of them have to make the ultimate sacrifice and forgo their invitation promise in hopes of a greater compromise instead? Spend the next 12 days with the most unusual cast of characters in this delightful novel, 12 Days at Bleakly Manor, the first book in the Once Upon a Dickens Christmas series by Michelle Griep.
I received 12 Days at Bleakly Manor by Michelle Griep compliments of Barbour Publishing and Net Galley. This is a quick read, but love the historical detail and poetic writing style of Michelle Griep as she weaves a wonderful tale of finding our deepest wishes might be right in front of us where we least would expect them to be. Just who is staging this elaborate event? You'll have to pick this one up to find out but for me, this one was worth 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait for more in this delightful, Victorian Christmas series!
Michelle5 Stars Out Of 5A Fun, Engaging Holiday Mystery in the Style of DickensSeptember 21, 2017MichelleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5As a fan of both Christmas books and mysteries, I was excited to read this new book that fits both of these categories. 12 Days at Bleakly Manor by Michelle Griep can be called a Dickens-style cozy mystery set in 1851. A group of strangers are invited to stay at Bleakly Manor for 12 days. Mysteries abound, including who invited them all and where their host is. Clara Chapman is the main character, a young girl who recently lost everything, from her familys money to her fianc. She is surprised to find her fianc among the manors guests. Things quickly become dangerous and Clara must join forces with her ex-fianc to solve the mystery and stay safe. This book was a fun, engaging read and I look forward to reading more books from this author. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

A small group of eclectic people are sent an invitation to stay at Bleakly Manor during the Twelve Days of Christmas with the possibility at the end of their stay getting exactly what their hearts desire. Ben was unjustly imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit while Clara's family has been left nearly destitute after being swindled of their fortunes. The formerly engaged duo are not happy to see one another at Bleakly Manor, but can they put the past behind them and work together to find out what's truly going on at Bleakly Manor?
I was completely entranced by this tale. There were many intriguing mysteries to solve and the strange 'accidents' and mishaps kept me glued to the page, wanting to know what happened next. There's a whole cast of entertaining and quirky characters, Miss Scurry my favorite.
12 Days at Bleakly Manor reminded me of one of those good, old-fashioned mysteries. I absolutely loved it! And even though it takes place during Christmastime, it's a story that can be enjoyed any time of the year. There's a short excerpt at the end that has me excited for the sequel! I highly recommend this book for any lover of historical fiction!

T. Robertson5 Stars Out Of 5Delightful Page-turning StorySeptember 5, 2017T. RobertsonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5As I opened the pages and began to read I was instantly catapulted to December 24, 1850. It may have been early August in reality, but in my minds eye, I was there in the story. I could smell the musty drapes and wood smoke; I could feel the sting of the cold on my fingers and toes. My senses sprang to alertness as I tried to discover who was behind the mysterious transgressions. Would my favorite characters make it to the end of the story?
In just under 200 pages, Michelle Griep has penned a spine-tingling Christmas mystery to rival that of Charles Dickens himself, and I was blissfully along for the ride. Kept on the edge of my seat with curiosity until the very last chapter when, like a beautiful Amaryllis, all was expertly revealed.
Underlying the twists and turns of this delightful page-turning story, the magnetic characters, and the realistic detailed setting is the gentle reminder of our Saviors love, we are all inherently precious and we have all fallen from grace, yet it is grace alone that saves the worst of us.
Bottom line: I loved this fantastic 5-Star book and I cant wait to read the next one!
