This is the first time that I have been treated to the setting of rural Wisconsin, with the cranberry farms and cattle ranches in 1884. Just for the setting alone this book is worth the read. Then there is the need for forgiveness. Bo, without question, hurt Elly and she doesnt trust or believe him that he has changed. I think this is an incredible story with these really touching human themes. Elly, Bo and Adele are really marvelous characters that you just fall in love with and root for them all through the book. And did I mention that this is a romance? I enjoyed this book a lot and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

They are young teenagers and cant wait to start their married lives together when Bo turns seventeen. When Bo turns seventeen, however, he tells Elly he feels restless and wants to see a little of the country before settling down and farming cranberries. Elly understands and lets Bo go after he assures her that he will be back in about a month. Seven years later Bo arrives home, but only because his fathers health is failing and he needs Bos help harvesting the cranberry crop.
Elly tells herself she has moved on and accepts a proposal from another, but cant make herself set a wedding date. She is angry and hurt with how Bo has treated her and wants nothing to do with him. Bo has returned a changed man, dedicating his life to serving God. What has happened over the last seven years? Elly has railed against God in her hurt while Bo embraced Him at his lowest point. As the story progresses, Elly and Bo cant help but spend some time together as they are next door neighbors and their families have been close for over twenty years. Elly sees that Bo truly is changed, but can she truly forgive him in her heart instead of just saying the words after all Bo has put her through?
This is a sweet love story that showcases the very real human reactions to fear, loneliness, love, death, grace, compassion and more. I always know Lori will produce a book worth reading and this is no exception. There isnt much action or suspense, but there are examples of how to not become bitter by holding on to the past, helping others and showing mercy. The book is short, easy to read and uplifting.

Review: I just love the flow that Lori Copeland writes with. She is so gifted, that is why I continue to read her books. They are so real and also they speak to something that is decreasing in Christian Books - Jesus. She is believable with her story telling and even when the topic is hard to deal with she manages to make it empathetic and interesting. I really enjoyed these characters. I did not like Gideon very much and that was OK. I was with Elly about the geese and I have a problem with things like that too. Bo was almost too good true. Although, I did not like him at the very beginning and I really liked the changed Bo. Elly was great, although the work that girl did was overload. I kept thinking that I needed a rest after she rested. While there was great sadness, the overall tone was realistic. The book flowed so smoothly that it was a quick and enjoyable read!

The story started off with a bit of quirky humor, and for the most part I enjoyed it. I loved the idea of the book, but it was hard to fully connect with everything. As hard as I wanted to, I couldnt get into the feel of it. I was a little aggravated with the characters at certain points in the story, which made it hard for me to really connect with them. But if you're looking for something light and quick to read, than I recommend this book.

This book is about love, family, forgiveness, wrong choices and God's timing. It has a great story line, even if you want to shake some of the characters once in a while.
