I've been most impressed with the few NIV Application Commentaries that I have. Scot McKnight does an excellent job of bringing contemporary significance to passages. I will continue to add books from this set to my library whenever I get the chance to.

After reading the first 60 pages, I had to read several pages looking for the biblical exegesis of why so much time was spent on definition of an alien.

I am disappointed in the way this commentary seems to just ride a fence in its application, leaving the reader with more questions. Much of it seemed to rely on what others already wrote to prove a point.

Sorry, I couldn't honestly be more of an encouragement. These are pricey books and my expectations were higher.

I bought 2 Peter as well and hope it is better.
