The series is co-authored by Tricia Goyer and Sherry Gore. Tricia has already written some great Amish fiction; Sherry adds an insider's touch, as she has been a resident of Pinecraft for several years.
The characters are delightful folks that it would be fun to meet. The Miller family, with five unmarried daughters, provides a wide-range of personalities and interests. As you read the story, you begin to get to know the entire family, even as the focus is on the oldest daughter, Lovina.
The excellent writing makes it very easy to get caught up in Lovina's dream for a pie shop and Noah's hope of proving that second chances can make a big difference in the lives of people and in things. The struggles and challenges they both face as they work on this ambitious project make for an extremely engaging story.
And there are so many mouth-watering recipes sprinkled throughout the book that it's almost like getting a bonus cookbook along with the story.
For all fans of great Amish fiction, I highly recommend all three volumes in this Pinecraft Pie Shop series.
KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great start to a new Amish seriesAugust 3, 2016KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5For some reason, I am utterly captivated by the village of Pinecraft which is in the heart of a bustling city. Made With Love is the first in the promising Pinecraft Pie Shop series. Lovina has four sisters so I'm hoping they each get their very own book! And there's an extra bit of authenticity since one of the authors lives in Pinecraft.
Love the dynamics between Lovina and Noah. She's a misunderstood dreamer and he becomes a surprising ally who is able to transform her dream into reality. An unexpected friendship develops but a deeper relationship is fraught with complications. Noah's trying to leave a difficult past behind, but he's infamous within the larger Amish community thanks to the widely read Amish newspaper, The Budget. And while the Amish are encouraged to forgive, many seem to struggle with the concept of forget.
The authors have created a thought-provoking inspirational thread about the deeper meaning of forgiveness. About walking alongside a person instead of holding back in judgement. I got so frustrated on Noah's behalf -- especially with Lovina's mother. Gah! I do so love becoming righteously indignant on a character's behalf!
And a special bonus -- Made With Love is chockfull of original Amish recipes -- makes for a delicious combination of fact and fiction (pun intended)!

Within its pages, you will find a story of love, trust, forgiveness, redemption, and helping others, intermingled with delicious Amish recipes. When I was sure I knew the direction the story was headed, the authors surprised me a couple of times with unexpected twists and turns. I found the story to be very enjoyable and did not want to put it down. Another great Amish fiction book!
MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5A Delicious "Recipe" to ReadFebruary 16, 2016MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5A sweet story that touches the heartits also filled with yummy recipes to accompany the saga. Set in the Amish community of Pinecraft, Florida, the book allows readers an inside view of life among the Plain people. In this first book of the series, Lovina Miller, one of five daughters, feels called to serve the community by serving in her own pie shop. Could it be an impossible dream or one handsome carpenter Noah Yoder might help bring about? While her mother focuses more on whom her daughter will marry, Lovina struggles to find her place and let her nickname of Love guide her life. She faces plenty of obstacles along the way.
The novel started a bit slowly, but is well worth the read. Life lessons are seamlessly kneaded into the tale, adding to the value of the fiction. I appreciate both of the authors, and know the locale is authentic since Sherry lives in the town.
Laura HiltonHorseshoe Bend, ARAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Made with LoveNovember 29, 2015Laura HiltonHorseshoe Bend, ARAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A sweet romance that is sure to appeal to most Amish fans. Noah had made some mistakes as a youth, and he is trying to make restitution by rehabilitating other troubled youth from his community in Illinois. He's moved them all to Pinecraft, Florida, but that isn't far enough away to escape his "bad name" because no one will hire him or his motley crew.
Lovina believes she'll never marry, so she pours her life into her dream, pies. She finds a building that would work, things fall into place, and Noah is hired to remodel. But things go wrong. Will Lovina end up with a pie shop or pie in her eye? And as for romance? With everyone against Noah and no money coming in, how can he even possibly consider taking on a wife?
There are a lot of delicious sounding recipes included, not all for pie, and a romance that will keep pages turning. Predictable at times, spellbinding at others. Don't miss this first book of Ms. Goyer's and Ms. Gore's co-writing. Seemlessly done, but fans of Ms. Goyer will know what she wrote, co-wrote, and didn't touch.
