Over the past several decades there have been three significant shifts in youth culture; each new shift brought with it different values and priorities in the lives of teens. Youth ministries adapted and responded to the first two shifts, but were missing the boat on the third. The result? Youth ministry isnt addressing the realities and needs of todays youth culture. After nearly three decades in youth ministry, Mark Oestreicher has lived through a lot of those shifts himself. In recent years, hes found himself wondering what needs to change, especially since so much of what were doing in youth ministry today is not working. In Youth Ministry 3.0, youth workers will explore, along with Marko and the voices of other youth workers, why we need change in youth ministry, from a ministry moving away from a dependence on programs, to one that is focused on communion and mission. Theyll get a quick history of youth ministry over the last fifty years. And theyll help dream about what changes need to take place in order to create the next phase of youth ministry the future that needs to be created for effective ministry to students.
Mark Oestreicher (Marko) is a veteran youth worker and former president of Youth Specialties. The author of dozens of books, including Youth Ministry 3.0 and Middle School Ministry, Marko is a sought after speaker, writer and consultant. Marko leads The Youth Cartel, providing a variety of resources, coaching and consultation to youth workers, churches and ministries. Marko lives in San Diego with his wife Jeannie and two teenage children, Liesl and Max. www.whyismarko.com.

I did not find that with this book. Also it was very easy to understand the download instructions.

In Youth Min 3.0, Marko issues a missional challenge to all adult youth workers. It is made clear that we as adults are foreigners in the world of teens and that has a profound impact on the way we relate to teens and how we do ministry.
Also included inside is an abridged lesson in developmental psychology and how it affects the way we teach and relate to teens, an absolute must for anyone hoping to reach students at different developmental stages.
Finally, Marko provides a comprehensive picture of where youth ministry has been, the cycles that we have gone through, identifies the cycle that we are in now and uses that information to ask the question "Where is our preferred future and how do we get there?"
This book is an easily digestible, fun and honest look at where youth workers need to step up and lead the way into a thriving future.
Sheryl Holmes5 Stars Out Of 5July 31, 2009Sheryl HolmesI loved this book! It confirmed frustrations I have had for several years with the youth group set up in our own church.... and it gave fresh outlook for the future. This author put into words and ideas what I have been fumbling around in my mind but was unable to pin-point clearly. If you want a new outlook for your youth - whether in a youth group setting or for even your own parental insight & leading within your home, get this book and be blessed and encourgaed.
