"I know God loves me but does he like me? Can I really trust Him with my life? Are my prayers not answered because I dont have enough faith? Maybe these problems Im having are because God hasnt really forgiven me " These questions and more constantly plague our minds and weaken our faith in God.
In God at Your Wits End author and counselor Marilyn Meberg probes the corners of our mind to uncover the faulty thinking that leads to an uncertain faith. She then explains how God affirms and even welcomes our humanity in the midst of our brokenness. As she continually points us to the awesome power of Gods majestic truth, she helps us reshape our thinking as we re-establish the foundations of our belief in a loving God.
Complete with thoughtful applications and probing questions, each chapter is designed for either group or personal study and in-depth reflection.
Rebecca A. Kroma5 Stars Out Of 5February 6, 2009Rebecca A. KromaI am reading "God at your Wit's End: Hope for Wherever You Are" for the second time. Three years ago I was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in my life. I had survived breast cancer 13 years prior to the diagnosis in 2005. What distressed me almost more than the diagnosis was the fact that I had prayed for 13 years never to have to tell my family I had cancer again. Can you imagine how devastated I was when I was told I had a form of lymphoma /leukemia? I felt so unloved and asked God what I had done to deserve this second round of cancer. God at Your Wit's End"truly saved me as it restored my shaking faith. Marilyn Meberg does an excellent job of pointing out all the reasons we get into trouble with very basic common thinking people do when they feel life has treated them unfairly. She really makes you understand through Bible references, anecdotes and humor how to move on which I was able to do knowing that God loved me and would be there for me when I began treatment. Treatment for this kind of cancer does not occurr immediately. We found out just before Christmas that I would begin treatment in January -2009. My faith is strong but I wanted to re-read this wonderful consoling book once again. In fact, I am ordering two copies for our church library and reviewing the book for the next church newsletter.
