When Amy Carmichael (1867-1951) arrived in India, she had no idea the dangerous work ahead---to save young girls from cult prostitution in Hindu temples. Nor could she imagine the times of material need, physical danger, pain and debilitating illness, disappointment and attack by friends. From this crucible, she writes of her uplifting times with God---who calls us all to find safety in Him, to live honestly before Him, and to receive peace as we live in His presence.
Amy Carmichael, a well known poet, hymnwriter, and author, spent fifty-six years in India as a missionary. The legacy of her work stand as a lasting testimony to the courageous young woman from Northern Ireland who stepped into the darkness surrounding her and found the greatest "refuge" of all---the sheltering love of God.

Elizabeth Kollar5 Stars Out Of 5November 3, 2007Elizabeth KollarThis is such a wonderful book from a great woman, and a great writer. Her trust in knowing that God always has her best interests in mind shows forth in each reading. Her devotion and surrender to the ways of her faithful Lord are astounding, and admirable. It is unlike any devotional that I've read. This compilation of her many writings is beautiful. She truly had a heart set on doing God's will, and dying daily to herself, relying on His Grace, mercy and loving care.
