Tell us a little about yourself. I am married, with two adult sons. I began writing as a way to market my accounting and consulting practice. I also speak at workshops and conferences. I enjoy reading, exercise, gardening, watching the birds in my backyard, and college football. I teach the young adult Sunday school class at my church.
What was your motivation behind this project? This project began as my own way to get more out of my daily Bible reading. Each day I asked God to show me how to apply what I read to my life and I journaled my observations and insights. As time passed, I felt God telling me to share what I had journaled with others. That is how the book was born.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My hope is that people reading this book will have a greater appreciation for how ALL of the Bible provides relevant guidance for daily living. I hope that readers will see how the Bible really is the living Word of God--because no matter where you find yourself, there is a message for you!
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As I prepared the manuscript, I searched for Scripture references that related to the reading for the day. I grew to appreciate just how interconnected the entire Bible is. My love for the Word of God grew as I worked on the project, and my commitment to journaling as a spiritual discipline was made stronger as I re-read what I had journaled about various passages of Scripture.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My favorite authors are Robert Mulholland, Dallas Willard, Brian McLaren and Richard Foster. I have been greatly influenced by the Companions in Christ small group studies, and by my participation in the Academy for Spiritual Formation. I am a HUGE fan of the David Crowder Band, Jars of Clay, and Brandon Heath.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I am so thankful to God whenever I hear that someone's Bible study has been enhanced by using this book. God has given us such a rich resource in His Word, and I hope that others will hunger to read it and let it speak to them.
