Just what I was looking for! My son communicates extremely well orally and has a vocabulary well above his age level. However, as a first grader he has become a reluctant writer because he just couldn't translate his ideas into writing. This workbook is really helping him see what writing is and how ideas in your head become good writing on paper. It's especially great that it encourages a lot of drawing in the pre-writing phase as he loves drawing.

Great for the beginning writer - one who can write words (creative spellers included). It helps focus the writing by including drawing. So, it is something like "what is your favorite book?" Draw the book, then write about your favorite part of the book. Usually, space is enough to write one to two sentences. It isn't daunting stare at full page of lines that should be written on - it makes it "doable".

As a homeschool mom I'm always looking for something to encourage creative writing, and fun. This is a great tool for getting your first grader to write more. It uses simple text, and gets kids to write about their favorite topic themselves. This book and Write about my World, would be great to keep any child 5-8 writing through the summer.

We absolutely love this book! It is very simple with no prep work needed. We have two boys with severe dyslexia who do not enjoy writing. But this book is something they actually looked forward to! All our kids have completed the book three years in a row now because their answers/ideas/pictures change each year. It makes for a great keepsake! And for those older kids who are struggling readers/writers, there is nothing 'baby-ish' about it so it's great for them.

My daughter absolutely loves this. It is her favorite workbook to do for school! She loves drawing the pictures, and from there I can convince her to write about them. Uses many different ideas to get kids writing.

    Great book!
