There is nothing like a good mystery, and when you add a bit of romance and a Christian message, I don't think it gets much better! This book had me hooked from beginning to end, and just when you thought everything was fine, the action heated up right at the end.
I honestly cannot think of anything negative about this book. It is the first in the series, and this was the first book I had ever read by Anne Patrick. There is absolutely nothing objectionable--completely clean in every area. And the Christian theme shines through in a non-preachy sort of way. Korey and Sean are the perfect couple, and the story never lagged or slowed down.
I want to take a moment and thank the author for honoring the military in this book. There is a growing perception in this country that the military is not to be treated with respect, and one can often find this sentiment even within the Christian community. I am so glad that the author dedicates this book to our illustrious armed forces personnel. It makes no difference what you believe about the conflicts in which the U.S. is involved. Our military deserves respect and support no matter what.
This is a fast read that will appeal to a wide variety of readers, and I believe it is well worth the reader's time.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
Loved this book! My heart really went out to Kory, who is struggling with PTSD and trying to start a new life outside the army. Sean is the perfect guy to help her face her demons, and keep her safe from the assassin who wants to kill her. I'm really loving this series! I highly recommend any Anne Patrick book.
I am almost at the conclusion of this ebook and though I am enjoying the story, find the spelling appalling. "Spell check" is not a panacea, humans need to read a book before publication. "Since and sense are not the same thing. Rolodex and Rolex are not the same thing." These are only two examples of the problem. There are words that can be spelled correctly but do not fit into the text or context of a book. I've stopped several times to figure out exactly which word the author really wanted, which word made sense for the context.
I do hope this was just a fluke because Patrick is a good story teller.
I'm glad to have found Anne Patrick. I'll be purchasing her latest in this series which comes out early fall of 2013. I enjoy her books because she takes you into the world of the military so we can understand what our returning vets and their memories of being overseas talk about in her stories. They become a real part of the storyline.
