Publisher's Description

Lauren Eldridge had avoided returning home to Daily, Texas, until her father confesses to being in over his head. Paying back an old favor, he's invested in a horse that's supposed to be the star of a new Hollywood movie. Only the horse won't behave. And Lauren is the best trainer in the state. Convinced to return, she soon finds more than she bargained for when the movie's screenwriter turns out to be leading-man handsome.

This movie may be Nate Heath's last shot at turning his career around. He didn't have high hopes at first, but the town of Daily may be just what everyone needs to find hope and healing. And maybe even a little romance.

Author Bio

Lisa Wingate is a popular inspirational speaker, magazine columnist, and national bestselling author of several books including Tending Roses, Talk of the Town, Good Hope Road, Drenched in Light, and A Thousand Voices. Her work was recently honored by the Americans for More Civility for promoting greater kindness and civility in American life. Lisa and her family live in Clifton, Texas.

Publisher's Weekly

Evangelical Christian novelist Wingate introduced readers to the delightfully homespun what-you-see-is-what-you-get town of Daily, Tex., in Talk of the Town. In this sequel about the city's happenings and residents, Wingate expands upon the story line and offers readers more lovingly presented Texas talk, charm and romance. Wounded by the death of her husband, Lauren Eldridge is summoned back to Daily by her daddy, who's gotten himself into a financial pickle. Trying to pay an old debt by risking the ranch, Lauren's father asks his daughter to come home and tame a wild horse before the movie he's invested in starts shooting in Daily. Lauren's first instinct is to run anywhere but home. Still, she braves the emotional journey to help her father, remembering how he supported her after the accident that killed her spouse. What Lauren discovers back home amid familiar faces and places is forgiveness, love and a big, Texas-sized romance. Wingate's text is funny, to be sure, but a predictable story line detracts from what could have been a more poignant tale. (Feb.)Copyright 2008 Reed Business Information.

Honestly, I haven't yet met a Lisa Wingate book that I didn't like. But I particularly like the Daily, Texas series because of it's setting in Texas and the small town life that is profiled. I found that I didn't really think about Hollywood much in this book, I focused on the lives of the very real small town people, the interaction between Lauren and Nate (and the goat) and just the quirkiness and comfortableness (not a word maybe) of living in rural Texas. Whenever, I read her books, they take me to a place that I would love to live. I get wrapped up totally in the town, the people, the beautiful (and sometimes tragic) setting that her books are set in. and this was no exception. Her books I find, are Christian based, which I love, but I do think that anyone could read them and not be offended by the Christian wording and relevance, if that wasn't the way they are. I just think Ms. Wingate is an amazing writer. Highly reccommend.

So, I didn't have high expectations going into this book. It was my first by Lisa Wingate and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it more then I thought I would and the plot kept me turning the pages, (rather quickly I might add) and I enjoyed it enough to say that I would read more from Lisa. She's a good writer, although I found she had the characters explaining quite a lot of stuff in their thoughts...

Altogether, I don't think I'd read it again, but I would recommend it to fans of contemporary fiction who like a little Hollywood thrown into Texas.

Once again, I was totally involved with the characters and read the book almost straight through. I did have to sleep some. The Daily, TX characters seem like friends that I don't see often and I find myself wondering what they are doing now. Maybe the next book will tell me if the ranch for children materializes. I hope this series continues on and on. But, I will say that the covers don't really do the stories justice. They look like the typical, shallow romance, but there is so much depth there.

The story was cute, but I didn't like how each chapter kept bouncing back to the other main character.
