Honestly, I haven't yet met a Lisa Wingate book that I didn't like. But I particularly like the Daily, Texas series because of it's setting in Texas and the small town life that is profiled. I found that I didn't really think about Hollywood much in this book, I focused on the lives of the very real small town people, the interaction between Lauren and Nate (and the goat) and just the quirkiness and comfortableness (not a word maybe) of living in rural Texas. Whenever, I read her books, they take me to a place that I would love to live. I get wrapped up totally in the town, the people, the beautiful (and sometimes tragic) setting that her books are set in. and this was no exception. Her books I find, are Christian based, which I love, but I do think that anyone could read them and not be offended by the Christian wording and relevance, if that wasn't the way they are. I just think Ms. Wingate is an amazing writer. Highly reccommend.
So, I didn't have high expectations going into this book. It was my first by Lisa Wingate and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it more then I thought I would and the plot kept me turning the pages, (rather quickly I might add) and I enjoyed it enough to say that I would read more from Lisa. She's a good writer, although I found she had the characters explaining quite a lot of stuff in their thoughts...
Altogether, I don't think I'd read it again, but I would recommend it to fans of contemporary fiction who like a little Hollywood thrown into Texas.
Once again, I was totally involved with the characters and read the book almost straight through. I did have to sleep some. The Daily, TX characters seem like friends that I don't see often and I find myself wondering what they are doing now. Maybe the next book will tell me if the ranch for children materializes. I hope this series continues on and on. But, I will say that the covers don't really do the stories justice. They look like the typical, shallow romance, but there is so much depth there.
I just finished reading this book and it is a steal at $2.99! I enjoyed the way Lisa Wingate took you in and showed you how great everything could be. I laughed and I cried. I highly recommend this book.
