Susan Hunt and Ligon Duncan walk through the Scriptures to help readers better understand what it means to have an effective, biblical women's ministry in the church. The benefits of women's ministries are great: training and discipling, evangelizing, and reaching out to the poor and needy. This book, written by seasoned ministry leaders, provides many proven tools to help start a women's ministry in your church.
Barbara HarperKnoxville, TNAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good resourceJune 2, 2011Barbara HarperKnoxville, TNAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book contains a great amount of instruction for the Biblical foundation and applications and need for a women's ministry in local churches. There was much I underlined and marked throughout the book. One quote I marked says, "Without in any way discounting the regular pulpit ministry of the church, we should recognize that there are certain matters more aptly addressed and applied in the context of a specific discipleship of women, whether in large groups, in small groups, or in situations of confidentiality, as women minister to women" (p. 84).
Another is "When young women learn more about womanhood from TV, movies, magazines, and the Internet than they do from mature older women, they will often make unbiblical decisions" (p. 53).
One objection is that the book is very heavily denominational, which might be off-putting to some readers, but the Biblical foundational truths are so important and helpful that I'd urge you to read it despite that. This book is a rich resource for an area of ministry that is sometimes neglected or off-balance, and there is much good to glean.
Karen Henson5 Stars Out Of 5March 11, 2008Karen HensonThis book is a must read if you are wanting to do ladies ministries at your church, according to Scripture. The practical truths from God's Word about this topic are presented in an easy to understand format. Whether you have an established ministry for ladies, are just starting out, or if you need to rethink how you do your ladies ministries -this is the book to read! I'm thankful for my pastor, who bought this book for his wife, and she mentioned it to me. It has been a blessing to read, and it will help our church to begin to do our ladies ministries better!
