In reading the back of A Woman of Fortune, I was stunned at the lavish lifestyle that the Massey's lived and that really, they didn't think anything wrong with it. I did think that this book was right in line with today's headlines and that people who have that kind of money, do live the way the Massey's did and that they treat people the way that the super rich treated people.
I like that Ms. Gilbert did make it hard for Claire to find employment after her husband had bilked thousands of people out of their money. My favorite books are the ones that have the reality of the real world and not have you living in a fairy tale where even though her husband is a thief they continue to live like kings in their castle.
I would recommend this book to anyone. I couldn't put it down until I finished it.

Unexpected but very interesting!!! This is my first book by Kellie Coats Gilbert, and I say its a good start.
Contemporary--straight from the magazine sort of story. Very heart wrenching and a constant battle for the family. I liked that. But there were some moral issues that i totally don't agree and wouldn't encourage people on it. But its reality and I respect the author for taking on the challenge to write about it.
Recommendable but not to all readers.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this story but I was wrong. This dragged me into this family's troubles even though they were rich. I never could like the husband/father but that is me. I look forward to reading more of this series. I received this book from bookfun.org for a fair and honest opinion.
A Woman of Fortune is a thought-provoking, entertaining book. One day the Massey family goes from riches to being in the poor-house because Tuck Massey participated in a Ponzi scheme and bilked millions out of people. Tucks family has to give up the beautiful houses, expensive cars, expensive clothes and jewelry and paid help. The book was full of romance, intrigue, inspiration, families and friendships. I look forward to another Texas Gold novel.

This book was impossible to put down!! I was hooked from the start and it is definitely a new favorite. If you are looking for a spoiler...I'm not going to give it away.
A Woman of Fortune by Kellie Coates Gilbert is filled to the brim with romance, inspiration, intrigue...you become deeply invested and will not want the story to end - I know I didn't!
Ms. Gilbert's realistic writing style makes you feel like you know the characters personally, that you are watching them grow before you. This is a powerfully emotional story that reminds you of what is most important in life...not material things...but faith, love of God, and your family!
I am looking forward to Ms. Gilbert's next book! I would highly recommend this book to everyone, it is wonderful!
